A pensioner stored his own poo in a container for two months before shoving it through a friend’s letterbox in a bitter dispute. Geoffrey Holroyd-Doveton, 75, used a ‘home-made pump’ to spray the excrement into Donald Wicks’ home as a disgusting act of revenge. |
The former mates had fallen out as Holroyd-Doveton thought Mr Wicks had contributed to his recent divorce and ‘ruined his life’, a court heard. But the OAP travelled more than 160 miles from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, to Mr Wicks’ house in Braintree, Essex, with poo he had stored for two months and splattered it into the home. It caused £4,000 in damage.
CCTV had recorded Holroyd-Doveton outside the property on the night of the offence in New Year’s Day this year. The pensioner was given a two-month suspended sentence today at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court after admitting criminal damage. He will also have to complete 80 hours’ unpaid work. The chairman of the bench, Michael Cadman, called it ‘a pretty horrific offence.’ He added: ‘[It’s] almost as bad as I have seen in my 30 years as a magistrate.’
Lesla Smith, prosecuting, said Holroyd-Doveton had planned the act for some time. He pooed into the container two months prior to the offence and created a pump with which to spray the faeces. Mr Wicks, who was on holiday with his wife at the time of the offence, described it as ‘despicable and disgusting’ and said it had left him anxious and unable to sleep
He said he felt his ‘personal space and home had been invaded’. Emily Hughes, defending, said Holroyd-Doveton felt isolated and depressed following his divorce. He had to move from his home in Braintree to Rotherham, and was ‘incredibly sorry for his actions’. For more visit http://www.tribunenewslive.com/
