Let’s start with what you can leave home. It’s simple — if you can buy it at your destination & it’s not an absolute necessity, you don't need to carry it around in your luggage. That’s it. Sure, a lot of you may be screaming that this is terrible for your travel budget, but that just isn’t the case. Start tallying up costs for extra weight in your bags or having to check luggage, and try to quantify the headaches you’ll have trying to make it all work, and just about any math will tell you that you’re better off just dealing with it later. When it comes to things you should pack, here is a quick guide to use for your next packing party: Toiletries — You can make the argument that these could be bought at your destination, but there are plenty of toiletries that are made in travel sizes that make it a breeze to just toss in your bag. Medicine — This is particular to medication that is necessary, as well as some very basic first-aid items. Again, you can get most things at your destination, but it never hurts to be ready for anything. Activities for the Kids — Nowadays, kids tends to defer to either their own mobile devices or those of their parents because they are loaded with games & other activities. This isn’t such a bad way to go because it saves space. Just be sure to talk about vacation screen time ahead of your trip. Clothing for all Weather — Probably the best way to dress for all weather, in general, is with layers. Check the weather at your destination ahead of time for a reference point. Vacation rentals really will let you see traveling in a whole new way, which can actually be great for you and your family. Sometimes the same, old getaway can get to be a drag, but by just changing things up a little in terms of where you stay, your vacation will have a whole new dynamic.
