The MP George Longman was a source of vital financial support for Dickinson, and later – in 1853 – Shendish Manor came into the ownership of Charles Longman. The property remained in the possession of the Longman family until the 1930s, when it was sold to John Dickinson Stationery and subsequently used as a sports and social club. 4. Shendish Manor finally assumed its present identity as a hotel and conference centre in the 1990s.
