The small island of Gran Canaria is fast becoming one of the most popular places for Brits to book their summer holidays. It’s sunny and sandy, and it’s got some really amazing clubs that party people will love. Read on for some of the bars you don’t want to miss on your Gran Canaria holiday. Two Party Hubs Most well known summer spots have one major hub for nightlife, but this one has two! The island is small enough that each is near the capital city, Las Palmas, but the centres of activity are at Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas. These two areas offer the best clubs on the island, with most bars open till around 2am – and some even as late as 6am. MTV Pacha Party Boat No Gran Canaria holiday would be complete without a trip on a party boat, and the MTV Pacha is the best of the bunch. This huge, luxurious, five-star catamaran is set up like a beach club, with resident DJs blasting R’N’B, dance, house and more through top-quality speakers. There’s a huge amount of space to chill out, with nets and sunbeds on offer to top up your tan while you relax. The bar staff are always happy to sort you out with a high-class cocktail, while shot girls and champagne sprays ensure you’ll never be dry on the dancefloor. What’s more, MTV Pacha offers that little bit extra to make your Gran Canaria holiday truly unforgettable. After meeting at 2:30pm at Playa del Ingles, revellers stop off on the beautiful Anfi del Mar beach for lunch, before heading all the way around the island to Puerto Rico de Gran Canaria. Online bookings offer discounts, and a VIP upgrade is available for those who fancy access to the boat for the rest of their holiday. It’s an absolutely essential experience. More Clubs in Playa and Maspalomas The Tirajana area is Playa’s best party spot, packed with incredible nightlife options. Pacha Gran Canaria Open 5pm-1am every day, Pacha has been an institution since first setting up on the island in 1984. It’s one of the trendiest and most popular spots in the area, but its 1,000m2 area and four bars ensure there’s always space to dance and get a drink. China White Located within the Kasbah shopping centre, China White is popular with both tourists and locals. It’s open every day, and its striking white décor lends a classy vibe while you shake it to some of the best R’N’B and pop. Aqua Ocean Another fashionable spot popular among young islanders, Aqua offers all the partying you’d expect from an island club. Dubai Finally, come down to Dubai for the real late-night experience to cap off your Gran Canaria holiday. Open 12-7am on Fridays and Saturdays, Dubai is a rare treat worth waiting for. Just make sure you line up early – it gets pretty crowded. Las Palmas Fancy a trip into the capital? Go for it – and make sure you hit up these excellent night spots. Fortuni Las Palmas The capital has more permanent residents than the dedicated tourist spots, but it still attracts more than enough of its own tourists. Locals and study-abroad students flock to Fortuni between 11pm and 6am on Fridays and Saturdays, dancing till dawn to a variety of music across three floors. The Paper Club Tourists and expats adjust quickly to the island’s Spanish ways. A lengthy afternoon siesta means most don’t even think about heading out until 10pm or later, preferring big late meals and drinks. The Paper Club opens at 11pm and closes at 4am, Thursdays to Saturdays, and caters more to live music than the other venues on this list. It’s both nightclub and concert hall, and its 400-person capacity lends it an exclusive feel. Why not mix things up and spend a night dancing to a band here? How to Get There Because the idea of a Gran Canaria holiday is so popular, many airlines offer regular flights from the UK. The journey from Heathrow is only about 4½ hours, and tickets are often very affordable. Once you land, you’re best off booking a shared transfer to get you and your group to your hotel as quickly as possible – all the better to get changed, charged and out on the streets to party!
