Even though I’m not a regular beer drinker, I do enjoy a good beer once in a while. Luckily, I have a few breweries near me that each offer something a little different when it comes to ambience, beer choice, and general experience. Still, though, there’s one particular brewery that really does it right, and if push came to shove, I’d have to say it is my favorite. |
First things first, if I’m looking for a brewery that offers something extra, the first thing I need to do is to define what ‘extra’ means to me. This can be a little tricky because I have to figure out what things I’d like to get from a brewery. Sure, the beer is always going to be top of mind, but then again, any brewery can cover that. The right kind of brewery can readily adapt and do more than just be a place to get beer. Moreover, the right brewery can do this across the board for just about every patron, and this is no easy task.
Next, I’m not sure if this is the case with you, but when I have a nice, cold beer, I like a little something to snack on. My brewery of choice makes a point of offering killer food options with fresh, quality ingredients, and they even have restaurant-style service. This is actually becoming a more common thing among breweries. The ‘in’ thing for downtown urban rejuvenation is having a local & prominent brewery working in tandem with a cool, hip restaurant. The idea behind this is to spur development in the area & get more people to explore the heart of their city. The thing is that the food has to be great and appeal to my entire family. You can’t sustain a family on bar snacks. Being able to have fresh ingredients and meals prepared on-site is pretty important to me and may be for you as well.
In the end, if I had to pinpoint what the best breweries have in common, it would have to be that they strive to be truly unique among the growing competition. My brewery of choice just happens to be a part of a full movie theater chain built into the business model. It’s a dine-in theater, also called a movie grill. I can actually watch a first-run, newly released movie in a super-sweet theater, order a tremendous meal, enjoy craft beer brewed on the premises, and receive food & drink service during the film. Are you kidding me? It’s like having my own service ninja making sure I’m all set while I watch a movie.
Truth be told, I’m pretty spoiled because I have a choice in breweries near me that I can visit. Again, I’m not a regular beer drinker, but having options is pretty nice. However, considering how some breweries are stepping up their game, it may be time you demanded more from your local watering hole.
