There Is a Whole Lot more to Nepal than Only Mt. Everest and the Himalayas. Some Interesting Facts That You Must Know About Nepal.

1. Nepal is called as Amazon of all Asia. The hidden treasure of its rich biodiversity is not yet completely researched.

2. The baffling fact about Nepal is that all of the following occurs within the Small area of 147,181 sq. km (56,827 sq. mi). Nepal occupies only 0.3 and 0.03 percent of the land region of Asia and the world.

3. Nepal is the only country in the world with the non-quadrilateral flag.

4. Kathmandu has more UNESCO World Heritage Sites than every other city on the planet. i.e. 7 World Heritage Cultural sites within a radius of 15 km.

5. Thus, Nepal boasts the most extreme places on the ground like the Maximum lake on the ground (Tilicho 4800 meters), the deepest gorges (1200 meter)

6. At Kaligandaki, the highest valley in the world (Arun valley) and also the tallest grassland in the world in Chitwan.

7. Not to overlook, Nepal has 8 from the world's 14 highest mountains including the Mount Everest.

8. Arguably more than the entire continent of Europe and North Africa combined.

9. Nepal has 4.2percent of the world's butterfly species which is over 650 species of butterflies.

10. Nepal harbors 5980 species of flowering plants which cover 2.4percent of the planet's total. Over 250 species of these flowering plants are endemic in Nepal (i.e.. It is not found anywhere else on the planet.)

11. In a span of 100 km going from South to North at any portion of Nepal, you can experience hot tropical climate into bone-chilling Arctic form weather.

12. Nepal boasts a number of the planet's most popular trekking trails such as Annapurna Circuit hiking, Manaslu Circuit Trekking, and Everest Base Camp Trek. The Annapurna area was voted one of the top 10 best trekking places in the world.

13. Highest altitude resort: The Hotel Everest View over Namche, Nepal - that the village nearest to Everest base camp - is at a record height of 3,962 m (13,000 ft).

14. World's most extreme (longest, steepest and fastest) zip-line is constructed at Sarangkot. A zip-line rider rides the cable down for two kilometers and has to see surrounding peaks of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna.

15. Dhodhara Chadani suspension bridge is one of the greatest in Asia with span of 1496 m.

16. Nepal is the oldest state of South Asia, and it was never colonized. This must be among the most intriguing section of Nepal. Countries like India and China who encircle Nepal were dominated by foreign forces in the background but no electricity could suppress Nepalese along with the will of legendary Gurkhas in carrying over Nepal. Gurkhas are also well known for their leadership, bravery, guts and no-fear character they showed in the World Wars.

17. Nepal is the only country in the world home to a living goddess, the Kumari.

18. Nepal is the only country in the world to not have a time counter in multiples of 30 minutes from UTC. The time zone here is GMT+ 5:45.

19. Unlike Other nations, Nepal has Saturday as people holiday, not Sunday.

20. Not a single drop of blood has ever been shed in Nepal in the name of Religious And Cultural riot.

21. Nepal has over 80 ethnic groups and 123 Languages (Mother Tongue).

22. Elephant polo game has been originated in Meghauli, Nepal. Tiger Tops in Nepal is your headquarters of elephant polo and also the site of the World Elephant Polo Championships.

23. Nepal was once named as the weed capital.

24. Highest marathon: The maximum start to a marathon is really for the biennially-held Everest Marathon, run on 27 November 1987. It begins at Gorak Shep, 5,212 m (17,100 ft) and finishes at Namche Bazar, 3,444 m (11,300 feet ).
