Breezy Living in a Fairy House Seashell

Gardening
Can you picture it?  Visualize waves rolling gently nearby, bright sunrises over the beach, and the smell of salt on the air. Ah, do you see a peaceful seaside life! If you have ever daydreamed of living by the beach, it might be time to design your own ocean escape in the fairy garden. For those of us who prefer tropical and seaside miniature plants (or lack a green thumb), beach scenes are a delightful way to decorate the miniature garden.

With the right hardscapes and miniature accessories, you can build your very own seaside scene. Whether you choose to create it outdoors in the miniature garden, indoors in a container, or even inside in a suitcase, oversized shell, or another nontraditional space, you can bring the beach to you and make a garden oasis that will have you imagining blue skies and warm days.

Shell Space One of the easiest and most striking ways to decorate your beach-themed miniature garden is using shells. For some, this might mean incorporating shells that you have collected during your travels and seaside adventures. You can scatter them on your small-scaled beach or make use of an extra-large conch or cone-shaped shell as a miniature house.

Do your fairies have mermaid friends in the miniature garden? A shell is a mermaid’s favorite place to make a home, as it reminds her of the ocean floor. You can lay it down lengthwise in the sand or set it up vertically. The opening acts as a door for fairies and mermaids. Small seashells, sand dollars, glass pebbles, or ocean stones can be used to a create a path to the mermaid or fairy house, and there are endless possibilities for fairy garden accessories to be placed outside - beach chairs, a grill, tiny animals, a volleyball net, a dock, rustic fencing - the list goes on and on!

A large shell-turned-fairy-house is the centerpiece of the beach scene that pulls the entire look together. Do not be afraid to highlight the shell, decorate around it, and make it the ocean castle any mermaid would desire. If you are using your own shell acquired on seaside adventures, you can even spice it up with a shiny clear sealant, a sparkly coat of metallic paint or sequins glued carefully on the exterior of the shell.

Alternatively, there are many shell-shaped fairy houses to be found online. A Conch Fairy Condo or Seashell Fairy Shanty might be just the ticket for your miniature garden. Of course, be sure the shell-shaped miniature house you choose matches the scale and proportions of the rest of your fairy garden. Look at the Minikin Scale if you have any doubts or questions about miniature gardening.

Set the Scene Once you have chosen a seashell miniature house or a set of fairy garden accessories with which to decorate your beach-themed miniature garden, you will not want to forget one last, important detail: hardscapes! Hardscape materials, most often used to landscape your fairy garden, help to pull the entire scene together. A mini, tiny, teeny, or micro beach scene built on soil or grass will not give off a very warm, beach-like feeling. Instead, you might choose to decorate with soft beach sand or even colorful sand in a pink or yellow hue that will give guests the feeling of being transported to faraway lands. Black sand is reminiscent of the black sand beaches found in Hawaii and other exotic locales.

Some miniature gardens employ water elements, but if you like to keep your fairy garden dry, you can recreate the look of water using bright blue pebbles, tumbled glass, sand, or other blue hardscape materials. Look for a collection of glass pebbles in a variety of blue and green hues to give your “water” a realistic look. Water alternatives are a fun opportunity to incorporate sparkles and glitter, as you can give your miniature ocean or lake a magical, sun-dappled appearance.

Lastly, if you picture your beach on a lake or you would prefer a more rustic theme then consider river rocks, pea gravel, fairy mulch, or larger stones alongside the lake. What mermaid does not enjoy lying out on the rocks, gazing at her seashell house, and dreaming the day away? However, you decide to decorate your miniature garden beach scene, you can rest assured that the mermaids and fairies in the garden will be delighted to visit, go for a swim, and bask in your sunny, salty, miniature garden paradise.

Miniature Gardening' offers miniature plants, accessories, fairies, garden tools & dollhouse furniture to create enchanting miniature landscapes for containers or your yard. Story telling and imaginary fairy garden from 'Miniature Gardening' bring the playful kid out in all of us. Filled with intrigue and mystique each little miniature garden scene you create is a snapshot of such a dream.
