For avid skiers looking for the next hot resort to explore, St Anton has got to be on the list. Rated among the best Alpine winter sport resorts, it’s the largest ski area in Austria and one that is set up perfectly for more advanced skiers and boarders who enjoy long days on the mountain and more challenging slopes. With over 340km of pistes and nearly 200km of off-piste action, this stunning town is also well known for its excellent restaurants, buzzing bars and of course, your perfect catered chalet. St Anton is equally famous for its party scene, boasting an array of brilliant après-ski bars. When the ski lifts close and the adrenaline is still pumping, there is nothing quite like heading to a bar where everyone is in the party mood, the tunes are playing and the atmosphere is electric. Here are some of our favourite spots to dance the night away. Mooserwirt Proud of its reputation as the ‘baddest’ of all après bars on the Arlberg Mountain, this funky bar and restaurant opens its doors at 11am and is ideal if you enjoy a mid-morning hot chocolate or perhaps a small beer break from your morning ski session. If you prefer to wait until the lifts close to get your groove on and join the après fun, then Mooserwirt will not disappoint. From 3.30pm the music booms and the DJ gets his decks spinning for a fun-filled night of dancing, drinking and partying. Enjoy a last run down the Zammermoos piste and hang up your boots for a fab afternoon entertainment at Mooserwirt. Basecamp If you are staying in a catered chalet, St Anton has plenty of options when it comes to lunchtime replenishment. Basecamp is the perfect spot to grab a mid-ski bite; the main courses here are big, hearty and relatively inexpensive. The bustling bar also doubles up as a lively après venue where it hosts international DJs and bands too. The live music scene here is exceptional and the bar hosts many top-class bands on a regular basis. Located in town, this one is easy to reach on foot. Krazy Kanguruh A definite must for après fans, this fabulous bar is famous for its sun terrace that boasts the most incredible views overlooking the town. Dance ‘al fresco’ to the pumping music, funky beats and classic tunes and enjoy the magical surroundings as the Alpine sun sets over the beautiful mountains. The bar also serves excellent food – there’s nothing quite like a burger and a beer when you’ve been shredding the pistes all day! Perched right on the side of the slopes, this place cannot be missed. Head down run number 21 and look for the flags leading to the terrace. Where to Stay If you like spending your winter ski holiday in a catered chalet, St Anton certainly won’t disappoint. There are some fabulous options here with many offering first rate locations, close to the lift stations and town centre. So, if skiing and partying hard are on your agenda when you choose your next Alpine escape, St Anton could be just what you are looking for.
