Words… Racism is a word that has pretty much lost power due to frequent and deliberate misuse; especially by a political party whose history has been blatantly racist. During my lifetime, I recall vociferous integration opponents emerging from their dugout; viz., George Wallace, Orval Faubus, Robert Byrd, Al Gore, Sr. et.al. I tend to yawn when I hear the word anymore. Nevertheless, I refer to it in this essay to contend that the accusers are guilty of it for the devious purpose of buying votes, avoiding scrutiny, exploitation, and/or projecting their own bias onto so-called enemies. Further, the word “liberal” is a misnomer as promoted and used in today’s vernacular. I’ll explain. A truly liberal individual is open-minded; that is, one who definitely challenges the status quo, but is open to debate and discussion—not closed-off, bigoted, and fascist. Since the mid-1990s I have observed subtle, underlying maneuvering by an effete corps of impudent snobs who shrilly accuse everyone else of sin while preaching they have the moral high ground. They repeat their lies a thousand times over until their minions, including the slobbering, Pravda-like American media, accept it (and promote it) as truth. Part of their cadre include Holocaust deniers, which means to me that particular nightmare could happen all over again. Spinmasters… How did the media get sucked in? That’s easy. Hollywood has, in recent times, been radically left-leaning; that is, socialists who preach everyone else’s money should be redistributed—except their own of course. Plus: Hollywood = celebrity status. The media wants to be (whine) celebrities too, not dry old news reporters like Walter Cronkite. Unfortunately, today’s democratic socialists / progressives have coopted the word “liberal” for their own insidious purposes. There is NO discussion with these folks; folks who can’t get off their talking points, mantra, and the bible of community organizing according to Sol Alinsky and his Rules for Radicals. Discussion is closed! If one wants to discuss or disagree, he/she is an enemy to be hated. Hatred they do well. Witness ANTIFA, BLM, and other political hit mobs allegedly financed by George Soros. With that in mind, I apologize to REAL liberals—of which I am one—for what follows. What got me on this sidetrack is the latest series of Christmas movies on the Lifetime and Hallmark channels. Keep in mind, my mind finally clicked-in after viewing a series of those somewhat insipid and predictable flicks, but made the “ah ha” association that goes back to numerous television movies and network dramas over recent years. Deception… Anyway, for these holiday tours des forces, the plot typically revolves around a hero or heroine who must return to his/her hometown—usually an idyllic winter setting—to either write a controversial article or book, buy out a popular mom-and-pop store (or charming inn) for redevelopment by “them-there city folks”; and/or have an unwanted holiday reunion with a dysfunctional family. A carrot hung out there is a forthcoming promotion and/or not getting fired. Side plot: Friend / relative / secretary nosily points out our hero—an ambitious workaholic—is NOT in a relationship, and oh-my-goodness, what a pity. Further, the sidekick points out a member of the opposite sex who is “cute”. So far, no deception, but read on. To set the table for my theme, consider the following: Think of the sanctuary cities that are hopelessly rundown, and occupied by the homeless and/or illegal aliens. These cities are also home to a large cohort of minorities. The cities—like Seattle, Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, and Los Angeles—have been run by so-called liberals for decades. In addition, their DC representatives are of the same party. Politicians (local, state, and federal) continually carp and complain that they are not getting enough money to improve conditions in spite of vast amounts of cash that have been provided; cash that somehow evaporates into the ether (or the “general fund” to be raided at will with little or no oversight). Money. The great corruptor. Remember in George Orwell’s ANIMAL FARM how the animals that took over the farm turned into the very creatures they rebelled against? The book itself was a warning about socialism. In our inner cities—if we’re honest with ourselves—we see the very same metamorphosis; that is, the governing class turns into the same people they (wink-wink) fight against. To complete the metaphor, they are pigs wearing human clothes. Still, the advocates and their sycophants urge more taxes against those who are “not paying their fair share”, which is a psychological process called projection. Redistribution of money is their constant theme; and is the backbone of socialist strategy to pit haves vs. have-nots. “Minorities,” they say, “You’re being screwed. Keep me in power, and I’ll fight for you!” Then they do what socialists in power always do; they enrich themselves while projecting their failure elsewhere. A poster boy for this activity was the late Elijah Cummings, a US House representative from Baltimore. By hook or by crook, a dole from the feds of $95 million mysteriously vanished—or at least never reached the streets of the city. It is absolutely laughable that these clowns insist on being referred to as “honorable”. Then there was former congressman, William Jefferson (D-La) indicted on 16 charges of corruption. His sentence was commuted from 13 to five years meaning he’s out now and free to run again a la former DC mayor Marion Barry (D) who was reelected after serving six months in the slammer. They tell their constituents to keep voting them in, and everlastin’ change be a-comin’. Halleluiah, amen! Insanity. These self-serving politicians have built urban plantations, which is about as exploitive as it can get. Yet in spite of a 20-percent approval rating, incumbents are returned at an alarming 90-percent rate. When I lived in Los Angeles, a television reporter asked Harry Belafonte the reason he voted for a specific candidate. Belafonte with a sneer answered quickly and honestly, “Because he is black!” Yet black and white crooks alike perpetuate the urban plantation. The old, “The man is keepin’ me down!” is right-on except “the man” is represented these days by all races. Hustlers like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson pile on. Why? Follow the money. It’s in their best interest to never give credit for any kind of progress, and keep tensions on edge. Back to good old Lifetime and Hallmark. In my opinion, these channels pander to minorities, which (to me) shows a distortion and a lack of respect for the times as they are. Almost every authority person is African-American—mostly women. They run the publishing houses, literary agencies, the ad agencies, etc. For network television shows, the detective and FBI bosses are predominately black women. My question is: Who are they trying to fool with such a distorted picture? I think they are trying to fake-out the minorities and/or show how “liberal” the film industry is by throwing “bones” to pacify the hoi polloi. Smells like delicate, but furtive racism to me. During my professional life, I’ve worked with many well-educated, very competent minority individuals. Their behavior and manner was like that portrayed by Morgan Freeman. None exhibited the loud-talk, Ebonics I observe by minority “executives” on the big and small screens. None of the, “Wat chu talkin’ ‘bout, Willis?” dialect. My point is that film and television executives must think representing a minority that way is either cute or hip or a way to get a cheap laugh. It’s none of those. It’s cartoonish. It’s pandering. An aspect I admire by the holiday filmmakers is mixed race relationships among either the parents or the principles—even those set in Louisiana. This shows a world as it could be; that is, free of romantic color barriers. The films never show any kind of backlash, but then again they’re supposed to be feel-good movies about the end of year celebrations. With that in mind, I give them a pass. Aside… One last feature I’ve noticed that recent holiday films from all channels exhibit what I suspect is some kind of inside joke. Without exception someone mentions that “Winter Storm Meghan” may threaten travel, activities, etc. I appreciate the subtle film-to-film humor. So there you have it. Spinning before your very eyes committed by socialist-leaning politicians and oh-so-tolerant vapid filmmakers. My Christmas wish: Intellectual honesty across the board. Ah, who am I kidding? I set myself up for another stocking full of coal. Wait a minute! COAL??? What are we trying to do? Ruin the planet? Make that a stocking full of toenails and boogers.
