Dental Implant Placement On the day of your implant placement, your doctors will use a local anesthetic to numb the gums and jawbone. Once you are comfortable, your dentist will make an incision in your gum line to access the underlying bone. Then, a small pilot hole will be drilled that will be used to accurately guide the implant post. The final step involves suturing any incisions and using gauze to control bleeding. Following the outpatient procedure, you will be released to return home and recover. Recovery and Aftercare We recommend that patients rest for the full day or two following the placement of their dental implant. You will be given detailed recovery guidelines that will provide tips for ensuring a healthy recovery. Detailed notes will be sent to the laboratory to ensure that your final restoration matches the appearance of your natural teeth. Placement of Your Restoration Once your abutments have healed and your new crown, denture, or bridge arrives at our Denver dental practice, a final visit will be scheduled. During that visit, your new prosthetic will be affixed to the abutments.
