The following message is from a reader who came across one of my old emails about business lessons you can learn from Spongebob’s “Chocolate With Nuts” episode. ---------- Even I have seen this episode before, never seen it from this angle. It is very creative to make a 5 minutes long comedy script on tricks and tips of sales using a fictional salesman. These kinds of cartoons and movies such as The Wolf of Wall Street, The Pursuit of Happiness, The Founder, and Rocket Singh are a way to learn and also to motivate people. What are your thoughts on this? ---------- To clarify, the actual episode was more than five minutes long, but he was referring to the abridged version I linked in the email. But here are my thoughts. I only watched The Wolf of Wall Street and The Founder, but that’s more than enough for me to confidently say that you can indeed learn a lot of valuable business and marketing lessons from movies and TV shows. Take this quote, for example, from The Wolf of Wall Street: “The easiest way to make money is – create something of such value that everybody wants and go out and give and create value, the money comes automatically.” Pretty self-explanatory from Jordan Belfort. Or how about this one from Ray Kroc: “Persistence. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence...Persistence and determination alone are all powerful. Show that you don’t have to be defeated by anything.” Just those two lessons together lay the foundation for achieving any level of success in business. Apply this to emailing. Have a valuable and helpful product or service. Check. Persistent emailing. Check. But not in an annoying way. Instead, email using the copywriting methods taught in How to Become an Email Titan. You’ll sound far less sales pitch-y, be more engaging, be more entertaining, and you might even make more sales.
