Some people come to the Alps as much for partying off the slopes as for skiing on the slopes; but, for those that opt for the charming resort of La Plagne, the latter tends to be more of a priority. Not known for its huge party scene, the resort still has a vibrant atmosphere, plenty of bustling bars and restaurants and a lively après ski vibe. It is important that, if a livelier ski holiday is what you are after, you think carefully about which part of this resort you choose, in terms of hotel, self-catered or catered chalets. La Plagne is split into six small villages and all are a little different. Here are our top tips on where to head if you fancy jazzing up your ski holiday this winter. Seeking out the Après When booking self-catered or catered chalets, La Plagne’s main hub or Montalbert are good places to consider. In recent years the latter has had an influx of British homeowners who have brought a certain buzz that wasn’t evident in this sleepy village a couple of decades ago. Today the place has a much more upbeat ambience. One of the best bars in the centre of the resort is Scotty’s. This British-run place hosts a happy hour just in time for when the slopes close. There is a fabulous outdoor deck that’s ideal when the sun is out, and if you’re looking for a party, make sure you visit on a Tuesday evening when the Oxygene ski schools’ Breathe party happens. This is lots of fun with drinks, promos, giveaways and live music. The Mouth is a new bar in the centre that hosts all the best Alpine bands. Happy hours happen here until 10pm and they show big-screen sports as well. It’s open from 4pm through to 2am. Le Cosy, in Plagne Bellecote, is another favourite and this one stays open until 6am so is definitely for the hardcore partygoer! One of the real plus points here is that they offer a free minibus that picks you up and takes you home. If you’re feeling like splashing the cash, make a beeline for Igloo Igloo La Plagne. The cocktail list is long, to say the least, and the funky decor and live music combine to make the perfect evening party venue. If clubbing is what you are looking for, Le Saloon is a good option. It is open until the early hours and hosts lots of different artists throughout the night. You will find this pulsating spot in the Belle Plagne area of the resort. While this is by no means the extent of the party scene in this fabulous resort, it gives anyone looking for off the slope après ski fun some good options to begin with. Remember that when booking catered or self-catered chalets, La Plagne has six smaller hamlets to consider.
