Xplore Alpes Festival Running for the last week of October, the Xplore Alpes Festival has a packed-to-the-rafters programme of movies, music, activities, talks and displays, with something for everyone to get involved in. Encompassing sites across the Tarentaise Valley, you’ll be able to watch any of over a hundred specially selected outdoor sports and adventure movies; listen to fascinating talks by speakers on topics around the heritage of the mountains (including round table discussions and masterclasses); and, most excitingly, take part in a huge range of exciting activities and workshops – all supervised by professionals in the discipline offered. If you’re looking for some action outside your catered ski chalets, La Plagne and the surrounding area is turning it on in style at the Xplore Alpes Festival. Aime’s Christmas Market Spending the festive season in a ski resort can be a magical experience for young and old. Christmas markets have a very special kind of ambience and, on November 27, the little town of Aime-la-Plagne comes alive with their own version. The town’s charming streets are filled with stalls selling food, wine, local crafts and, of course, all things Christmas. Adults will love the wonderful ambience (and the chance to purchase gifts) but the children will love it even more, with a host of activities and appearances from the man of the moment himself – Santa. The market will be open from 10am-5.50pm. Red Pompom Night – New Year! If you’ve booked to stay for New Year in one of the catered ski chalets, La Plagne will help you welcome in the New Year with the celebrations known as Red Pom Pom Night. Although the usual fireworks display will not be going ahead, the night still promises plenty of fun, with music, food, wine and dancing in the snow.
