There are seven UNESCO cultural world heritage sites in the Kathmandu valley. All of them are tourist attractions so you can learn lots of historical and cultural things from these sites. We all know that Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. That is why it is the most populated place in the country. Some believe that Kathmandu is the most crowded city in Nepal because most people from out of Kathmandu come here for a better opportunity, study and medications. Kathmandu is an ancient city in Nepal, so visitors can enjoy their holiday visiting these heritage sites to get lots of information about culture, religion, art and architecture. Newar is a local community of the city, but there are lots of other communities people entering here. They can share their problems and help each other in their community. They are cultural sites that we can visit doing some day tours in Kathmandu. Swayambhunath Syambhunath temple is the oldest Buddhist temple, which was established by king Manadeva in the 13 century. This temple is in the middle of Kathmandu at the top hill. So, the visitors overlook the glory of Kathmandu valley. Most of the visitors know that it is also a temple of monkeys. Mainly the visitors visit here to see a panoramic view as well as Buddhist monuments. Mainly, the Buddhists come to worship the Lord Buddha. While visiting the temple, we can see the Tibetan monastery, museum, library and more. Bhaktapur Durbar Square Bhaktapur Durbar square is one of the best places to visit. This place also was ruled by the Malla dynasty. Previous Bhaktapur was a country, but it is a district and a city of Kathmandu valley. It is regarded as the epitome of Nepali culture, unique arts of wooden and potteries. This city is inhabited by a large number of Newar where we find their traditional culture and custom etc. Besides, there are lots of glorious places, which attract the visitor such as fifty-five windows palace, golden gate, Nyatapole etc. Bouddhanath Bouddha stupa was first built by the Tibetan king. And it is about 11km northeast of the centre of Kathmandu. This Stupa is triangular and tied with prayer flags. It covers a large number of areas and it is one of the most popular places to visit. Bouddhanath stupa is also a UNESCO world heritage site. Mainly, Buddhist people use to worship here. The main festival of Buddhists is Buddha Purnima, so there will be a special celebration during this festival. While celebrating the festival they call Dalai Lama. While visiting the stupa we can find more than 100 monasteries. When Tibetans moved to Nepal, they started living near this area. We can find lots of handicraft materials, and statues of lord Bouddha here in Bouddhanath. Pashupatinath Pashupatinath temple is one of the most famous places to visit among world cultural heritage sites. It is a Hindu temple, so many internal and external Hindu people visit here. There are four main gates, which are covered by a silver sheet. It stretches both sides of the Bagmati River. It is based on a bunk roof, four sides of the silver golden spike. Thousands of pilgrims from India visit Pashupatinath to worship God Shiva every year. There are 492 temples around this area. People celebrate Mahashivaratri and Teej festivals at Pashupati. Women have fasting at Teej for their husband's long life and happy life. Most communities think that a person who dies in the Pashupati temple they are rebirth as a human being. We can see oper cremation at the side of the Bagmati river. Patan Durbar Square Patan durbar square is one of the oldest cities in Kathmandu valley. It lies in the Lalitpur district. Krishna temple with 21 golden pinnacles (Gajur) is considered the most important temple of Malla art and architecture. There are 21 Bahals and 55 temples around the Patan area. Besides this, there are many other famous temples such as Bhimsen temple, Vishwanath temple and more. This is a city of fine arts, so the meaning of Lalitpur is a city of fine arts. Changunarayan Changunarayan is a Hindu temple that belongs to the God Vishnu. This temple is in the Bhaktapur district and can reach there, within a couple of hours' drive from Kathmandu. Changunarayan temple is on a hill station and was known as Champak hill. We can visit this place with a day tour combined with Bhaktaur or during the Nagarkot Changunarayan day hike. Kathmandu Durbar Square Kathmandu durbar square is an ancient royal palace. It is also a UNESCO heritage site in Kathmandu valley. This palace was ruled by several Malla kings, and the last Malla king was Jaya Prakash Malla. This place was united by king Prithvi Narayan Shaha from the Gorkha kingdom. After winning Kathmandu, he moved his palace from Gorkha to this place and started to rule from here. There are lots to see as pagoda temples, palace museums, the living goddess, and more. We can see art and architecture from the 12th century to the 18th-century. There are several cultural festivals in this place, which are celebrated by the Newar people. Besides visiting these sites in the valley, people may go for the Everest base camp trek or Everest base camp helicopter tour for one day.
