Light of the psalms

Advice,Christianity,Environment
Psalms 95 to 100 incorporate the strong theme of light and the hope that comes with it, something that the Lord will always have as part of his blessings to all and especially to his blessings upon the faithful ones as he illuminates their way. Psalm 95 This psalm speaks about hearing the Lord’s voice today and not hardening your heart. A key to not hardening you heart is to listen to the voice of the Lord this very day and in the days ahead. There is a day by day walk with the Lord and his voice will be there on a day by day basis.

Verse 7 through 11 from the New Oxford Annotated Bible says,” For he is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the flock of His hand, O that today you would listen to his voice, Do not harden your hearts as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, when your ancestors tested me, and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work, For forty years I loathed that generation, and said,” These are people whose hearts go astray, and they do not regard my ways,” Therefore in my anger I swore, “ They shall not enter my rest.”

Here it says as on the day at Massah, referring to one day, and the importance of heeding the voice in that very day. As the light is provided is must be sought and followed. There needs to be a dialogue with the Lord about this very day and his voice within it for you.

Years later might become too late and too little. Verse 4 says,” In his hands are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountain are his also.” Both the heights and depths of anything desirable belong to the Lord. This is symbolic of the vastness of his rest mentioned in the last verse, which equates with long ranging pastureland which may follow through both time and space for you.

The 40 lost years for those who had hardened their hearts, could have been otherwise and could have been reversed, starting at day 1. Psalm 96

A key verse from this psalm which gathers from the theme of light is verse 9 which says, “worship the Lord in holy splendor, tremble before him , all the earth” Splendor means a brilliant light and the light of the faithful worshiping the Lord contains a brilliance that becomes awe inspiring and the gathering of the worshipers is part and parcel to this splendor.

All of the members of the fellowship are invited, as it says in verse 7” ascribe to the Lord .O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.” This verse brings in the importance of small units or family units as for the Lord. The glory of the Lord and indeed the very strength of the Lord is what brings an answer to you and your prayer request. An answered prayer comes out of the glory and strength of the Lord.

Verse 12 says, “then all the trees of the forest sing for joy, for he is coming to judge the earth.” All the trees symbolically indicate that each individual tree or person is invited as individuals to join in this great splendor and light of worship to the Lord.

Psalm 97 This is a particularly powerful psalm reaching into the theme of light. Verse 1 says “the Lord is king, let the earth rejoice; let the many coast lands be glad.”

The Lord operates on many shores in terms of lands and possibilities. This is why the call of the intercessor in both near and far, locally and abroad.

Verses three through five say,” Fire goes before him, and consumes his adversaries on every side, His lighting’s light up the world, the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. “ This is the image of the Holy Spirit as fire. His fire goes to every side of an issue, problem or difficulty.

By contrast the false idols and images don’t have the fire, in fact they are worthless images. Verse 7 says,” All worshipers of images are put to shame, those who make their boast in worthless idols; all Gods bow down before him.”

There are positive judgments for those who are special in his sight, which are astounding judgments and images of light are used in these amazing wonders that the Lord does have for some and the light that is coming forth is a mark of the Lord’s judgement in your favor.

Verse 8 through 11 says,” Zion hears and is glad, and the towns of Judah rejoice, because of your judgments O God, For you O God are most high over all the earth, you are exalted far above all gods, The Lord loves those who hate evil, he guards the lives of his faithful; he rescues them from the hand of the wicked, Light dawns for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.” The dawn like the dawning of the day brings in formerly unseen and unknown light against the darkness of night. This dawning of Light, from the most High over all the earth as mentioned in verse 8, is a form of superseding and surpassing blessings, blessings that dawn past the darkness of what had been lacking or missing for you, the highest blessings or the reigning blessings that are specified to those who are to receive these blessings in as powerful a light as the dawn of the dawning of sun upon the new day. And so these blessings also have the anointing of newness and of a new dawn for you.

This blessing of light goes well beyond what might have been previously known and understood as they are dawned upon as something bright and newfound.

These blessings are the highest possible blessings from the very hand of the Lord to you personally, containing vast blessings that are in fact unlimited and previously inconceivable in the presiding darkness of night. Psalm 98 The Lord is working marvels, wonders and miracles in this psalm as verse 1 says,” O sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things. His right hand and his holy arm have given him victory” A new era has dawned, new light has formed and new songs of rejoicing are to be found.” The movement of his right hand and holy arm symbolize action on the part of the Lord. And he has indeed intervened and given revelations in the clear sight of nations as it says in verses two and three. “ The Lord has made know his victory: he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations.” “He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness, to the house of Israel, all the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.”

The Lord will give light to his revelations so that they can be seen, even to all the corners of the earth. All of nature and all peoples are invited to the coming of the presence of the Lord in united fashion and togetherness. There is the theme of a positive judgment towards a peace that will allow this gathering of worshipers.

Verse 9 says,” At the presence of the Lord, for he is coming to judge the peoples, he will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.” There is a fair shake to all in this coming judgments. One of the keys to this psalm is to realize that the Lord’s revelations are indeed part of his judgment and special revelations are communicating how the Lord is judging something.

Psalm 99 This psalm continues with a theme of worship and the call to worship. Many have called upon his name but among those who have called upon him are such great luminaries as Moses, Aaron and Samuel all of whom the Lord answered.

This psalm depicts the prayer warriors, and such mighty men of prayer such as Moses, Aaron and Samuel all of whom could pray and effect change and interventions anywhere and for anything on the earth, even toward future times.

Within this psalmist's worship, he is citing how the Lord answered them even as he makes his own requests under the banner of their lead and admonishes others to do the same. A person praying today can ask for the same light that was provided for the greatest of prayer warriors, including the light given to Moses, Aaron and Samuel in those days. This goes into the idea of access in prayer, while it is good and well to have the saints join in with your prayer requests, the same access that was given to Moses could now be provided to any believer who calls upon the name of the Lord and there is no reason to forget your special uniqueness and abilities to begin to pray and come close to the Lord yourself in prayer and within these prayers unlocking secrets and having an ongoing and deepening relationship with full access for your personally imagined and crafted individualized prayers to the Lord from your own personal point of access, acess which is never hindered by darkness but overcome by light. Psalm 100

Psalm 100 reads as follows from the Oxford Annotated Bible:

“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth, worship the Lord with gladness, and come into his presence with singing. Know that the Lord is our God, It is he who made us and we are his, we are his people and the sheep of his pasture”, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise, Give thanks to him, bless his name, For the Lord is good: his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.”

The Lord’s light is enduring and goes through all generations according to this psalm. It and it’s blessings will reach ahead of us and meet us further down the road of the Lord’s great graces as it does indeed endure for us.

This psalm is speaking to a people that are already in the good graces of the Lord, they are already sitting pretty in the pastureland of the Lord lit by the light of his Spirit. They already have it made. All they have to do in remain in the pastureland that they are already in on, that is the Lord’s pasture. When there is confusion and a sense of being lost, thank the Lord and ask him to identify and guide you into his pastureland of today, wherever that is and most likely it is also Spiritual pastureland that also would have connotations in the physical world but also found with the help and guidance of his angels who are there to guide you not only on the physical walk and in the dimensions of the physical but also on the spiritual journeys and in the dimensions of the spiritual.

Those who are referred to in this psalm are already on the right roads and right paths and are being shepherded on the true pastures of the Lord. Their main call in this position is to be glad, know how good they have it, and gives thanks and acknowledgment to the Lord as their maker and maintainer of this creation and wondrous pastureland under his guiding and enduring light.
