"The First Principle in the Science of Getting Rich" The mind is a powerful creation. It has the ability to dream up some of the greatest inventions, and it has dreamed some of the greatest horrors. How we think is critical to our success, but not in the way most people believe. It is not about thinking positive thoughts. This won't change our situation. The secret here is to learn to think about the things we want, and not think about the things we don't. Here are seven principles for understanding and changing the way you think: 1. Everything starts with a thought. You must think it first before it can become a reality. Without thinking something first, it will never become a reality. We must first imagine something before we take the steps necessary to make it a reality. What we think determines what course of action we take. 2. A thought puts the whole process in motion. What we do is based on what we think. We will take action to reinforce what we believe. If you believe that you are poor, you will do things that will keep you poor. If you believe that you are rich, you will take steps to reinforce this. This is human nature, and we maintain our balance by the agreement of our minds with the physical world. 3. We are creators, like the "Father," and we have the ability to create new things. Everything on earth starts with the simple atom. Based on the number of protons, electrons, and neutrons that atom has determines what element it is. There are only a little over 100 elements in the universe and everything is made from those elements. We have the power to take those elements and form them into different things. God is a creator, and He made us in His image. We have the ability to think like creators, and this is part of becoming more like Christ. 4. You must learn to think in a certain way. Positive thinking isn't enough. Positive thinking is about putting a positive spin on everything, but it doesn't change the reality. Thinking in a certain way isn't about positivity, it's about focus. What we focus on is what ultimately becomes our reality. If we remain focused on disease, or poverty, or some other misery, ultimately we bring those things into our lives. The key is to focus on health, wealth, and those things that will bring us to the life we want. Self fulfilling prophecy is a dangerous thing. If you believe something long enough and hard enough, it will manifest itself in reality. The book of Job is a perfect example of allowing fear to gain a foothold in our lives. 5. Sustained and consecutive thought is one of the hardest things in the world to do. Have you ever tried to sit down and just think about something for a period of time? It's really hard to do. We have an average of about 50,000 thoughts a minute. This is how many thoughts our minds can process at one time. In order to achieve what we want to achieve, we have to apply sustained and consecutive thought to the situation. This means spending our time thinking about what we want. Repetition is one of the secrets to making something a habit. We must make it a habit to think about those things we want. This will bring about the change we want. 6. Think about the things you want, and don't think about the things you don't want. Appearances are deceiving. The Bible tells us to "live by faith, not by sight. (1 Corinthians 5:7). Hebrews 11:1 says that "faith is substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." The key here is to focus on the things you want: good health, abundant living, good relationships. When you focus on disease, poverty, misery, and a whole host of other bad things, you only usher more of these things into the world. 7. The first step to getting rich is to believe three fundamental statements. There is a thinking stuff in the universe. A thought will produce the reality from this thinking stuff. We form things in our thoughts, and when this thought is impressed on the physical world, it will become reality. Start by thinking about the things you want. Focus on those thoughts and think about them as much as possible. This puts in motion your dreams becoming reality.
