Papers have many uses. Ever since the time it was invented, they were already utilized by the ancient civilizations such as Egyptians in which papers from papyrus plant was first used. The common purpose of the paper is that it serves as a tool in accounting the events, the important ones. Papers are the ones that immortalize events with the help of pen or ink. There are many uses of papers today. Although papers are used for various industrial purposes, most of the time, they are utilized for information dissemination such as magazines, newspapers or tabloids, brochures and many others. Even until now, papers still serves as the refuge of the important events. People are used to the activity such as recording events by writing every detail on the paper to have read later in time. Memories are best preserved with this thing. The advent of photography and camera technology, the role of papers in the lives of people has become even more significant. The invention of photography and printer technology also have also brought up the invention of high quality papers fit for printing images and other graphic types. There are two primary categories of printer papers. There are several types of paper but the concept I will be presenting is on paper’s functional purposes to define its two types. The two types of printer papers include common printing paper and professional printing paper. Common Printing Paper Common printing papers are the ones often used everyday by offices, business establishments, print media, educational institutions and many others. They weigh from 70 grams to 100 grams. Sometimes, there are available common printing papers that weigh up to 110 grams for hardcore printing activities. This type of paper printer is not smooth or glossy, just like any other papers that we see in schools (test papers for instance). Purchasing common printing paper should also need to be done carefully and meticulously. Buy only those that are branded because you can be assured of the quality. Printing papers that are with poor quality also begets poor printing output. Common printing papers are also called general purpose papers. Professional Printing Paper There are several types of professional printing papers. These include high density color laser printer paper, high gloss paper, photo laser paper, waterproof paper, brochure paper, A size printer paper, wide format inkjet paper and many others. These printer papers are usually twice as thick as the common printing paper. Glossy magazines, certificates, photos, cards, brochures, flyers, and others are usually made with professional printing papers. Since magazine, certifications and other sorts carry important role in communication, information dissemination, or a proof of recognition, they have to be printed with long lasting type of printing paper. The high density composition of the paper makes it fit for colored ink, heavily graphical printing. It is also has protection against water and other things that may cause damage to the paper.
