Chocolate sauce can be defined as melted chocolate which can be poured easily on anything as a topping on almost anything or everything. It can be used on practically all confectionary and bakery products ranging from an ice cream to cookies for that matter. A chocolate sauce is made out of a semi sweet chocolate silky in texture, a little cream rich by nature and a little sugar. We can also make a sauce of by mixing two or three chocolates to give a different flavour. The best chocolate is made out of a chocolate which is very smooth to touch and breaks easily. Chocolate sauce is poured hot whenever it is to be used. It is also used as a fondue when being served with fruits, cookies or bakery products. The chocolate used for chocolate sauce should have a major content of cocoa solids and must have a very good flavour. A dark chocolate makes a good chocolate sauce. When heating a chocolate sauce to use we should not heat it too much as its taste and texture is spoilt. A topping of chocolate and a crust of butter cookie make a chocolate square. A variation of Chocolate Square is made with an addition of peanut butter, marshmallows, rice, cocoa, corn syrup and peanuts. They are very popular and people find them very delicious. The look of a square is more like a chocolate bar and is also similar to touch. The peanut chocolate squares have a chewy nature because of marshmallows in molten state and the presence of corn syrup. The addition of rice gives it a crunchy and crispy taste. Another variation of chocolate squares is chocolate mint squares wherein we add peppermint instead of peanuts to make it. Milk and pistachio chocolate squares are another favorite among people. As with other products they are also available in dark and white chocolates in bittersweet and unsweetened taste. A condiment form of chocolate is chocolate syrup. It is used as a topping for all kinds of desserts. A very basic kind of chocolate syrup is made by using unsweetened cocoa powder, sugar and water. We can also use corn syrup, malt with additives like flavorings. In older times, chocolate sauce was used in black and white films to make it look like blood because it is harmless if swallowed, inexpensive and easily available. A variation of chocolate syrup is made of white chocolate. Adding chocolate syrup to any dessert makes a lot of difference to its taste and the dessert becomes a delectable delight. It can also be used to prepare a wide variety of cakes, brownies or fudge. It is thinner in its consistency as compared to a chocolate sauce. It is not to rich as compared to a chocolate sauce. The cakes prepared with chocolate syrup are moist and very soft. It can also be used for icing on bakery products chocolate syrup is offered by various companies in the market and is a hot favorite especially for children.
