Marriage as the saying goes is not just for that moment where people drink and make merriment but it is also an institution that is meant to last for a life time. Many marriages today have failed because the parties involved have did not acknowledge the simple fact that for a marriage to be successful, there are certain steps that are usually recommended during counseling which will need to be embarked upon for every marriage to be a success. They are listed below The first step that a marriage or relationship counselor will always tell couples to take to ensure a successful marriage is to make sure that activities are not done in an impromptu manner but they should be rather carried out in an orderly manner. In other words, there should be proper planning like the number of children that are expected over a particular period of time to ensure that there are enough resources to cater for their needs. How would you vision a marriage where the couple did not plan the activities that are expected to happen over the next couple of years? Of course such marriage will not stand the test of time. The importance of planning in every relationship and marriage cannot be overemphasized as it helps to ensure that such a union remains focused over time Another step to ensure a successful marriage is that both parties should be ready to tolerate each other at every given point in time. They should try to understand that as humans we are all bound to make mistakes in one way or the other and as such when one party offends the other, the offended should always try to tolerate the wrong actions of the other because if it happens that both parties easily get annoyed at the slightest provocation, then that marriage may not stay long before both parties will have to part their ways. One way to get around this is to ensure that every feeling of grudge is openly discussed Another effective way to ensure a successful marriage is that the man should always act as a true leader that can be looked upon at every point in time. This is true because if he doesn’t then the wife may begin to lose confidence in him with the passage of time. There are so many ways the man can achieve this feet and one of them is trying to involve the wife in the decision making process on matters that concern the well being of the family.
