Important to Check Out: The Best Eco-Friendly Carpet maintenance Information Revision 3

Home Improvement,Home Repair
If there is one particular household chore that a lot of homeowners dread doing, it is mat cleaning. This is quite understandable. cleaning a rug is tedious, back breaking work. As nice and cushy as it is to have a soft mat under your feet, when it gets dirty, you need to think about vacuuming it regularly and washing it.

Unfortunately, many of commercial carpet maintenance solutions that are available in the market today are not really environment-friendly. After you clean just a small stain on your carpet, you will smell the noxious fumes of the chemicals emanating from the spot. These solutions can prove hazardous to small children and pets. In fact, many cases of allergies and asthma can be attributed to the chemicals that have been used to clean mats and not just from the dust or allergens that have accumulated in the fibers.

Thankfully, there are eco-friendly ways by which you can clean your carpet. Best of all, these "green" carpet maintenance remedies are easy on the budget as well.

Without a doubt, a carpet owner's best friend is white vinegar. Whether you use it undiluted or mixed with water, vinegar can remove most tough stains, including coffee, tea, chocolate, crayon, cola, and pet accidents. It also serves as a carpet deodorizer and a mild disinfectant. If you have hard-to-remove stains in your carpet, simply mix one cup of vinegar and two cups of warm water, and you already have a carpet cleaning solution.

One household item that you will commonly associate also with carpet cleaning is baking soda. In fact, many mat vacuum manufacturers have recommended that you place baking soda inside the vacuum bag which will be dispersed onto your rug. Baking soda is excellent for cleaning the carpet as well as for the removal of spot stains. For wet stain removal, mix baking soda and water and then spray onto the stain. Carefully blot dry. For heavy or greasy stains, cover the entire stain with some baking soda and leave it to dry overnight. The following morning, vacuum it up. You can also add essential oils to your baking soda to give it that deodorizing effect. Excellent for this purpose is lavender. If insects are a problem, you can use essential oils from basil, thyme, and rosemary added to your baking soda.

Yet another way by which you can remove tough carpet stains is with the use of club soda. If there are spills or stains on the rug, soak the entire stain at once with club soda and then blot dry. For coffee stains, soak with club soda the entire stain with a damp cloth. Afterwards, cover the area with dry salt. Let it dry for 30 minutes or you can wait until it is completely dry before you start vacuuming.

If your carpet is looking dirty and dingy, try sprinkling household salt or cornstarch into the fibers. Let it stay for 15 to 20 minutes. Afterwards, you can vacuum your rug.

Discover other eco-friendly ways by which you can clean your mat today!
