Don't Think Your Thyroid Can Be Affected by PCOS? Think Again...

Health
Many people mistakenly believe that the systems of the body are separate from one another, that they cannot have a bearing on each other. Though Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is primarily considered to be an illness pertaining to the female reproductive system, it is a disorder that stems from an underlying hormonal imbalance and, as such, has access to all of the systems of the body through the blood stream. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and thyroid disorders often cause the same symptoms, and as such they are often both considered by healthcare professionals when their patients present with missing menstrual periods and hair loss. Because these PCOS symptoms are shared with thyroid disorders, particularly hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, these illnesses are often connected. Hyperthyroidism A condition that occurs when too many thyroid hormones (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone [TSH], T3, and T4) are produced, hyperthyroidism develops when the thyroid receptors are stimulated and overproduce these hormones. This overproduction can be caused by a variety of issues, including Graves disease, thyroid cancer, increased levels of TSH, or an increased risk of thyroid disorders due to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). The symptoms of hyperthyroidism include: Amenorrhea (the lack of a menstrual period) Increase in appetite Weight loss Enlarged thyroid gland Extreme sweating An inability to tolerate heat Temporary hair loss Soft, fine hair Protrusion of the eyeballs High heart rate High blood pressure Insomnia Treatment options are plentiful for this condition, and doctors can prescribe appropriate medications depending on their patients' individual symptoms and health histories. Hypothyroidism Naturally, given its name, hypothyroidism occurs when too little thyroid hormone is produced. This illness can also be caused by a number of factors, including cancer, an iodine deficiency, Hashimoto's disease, high lithium levels, and the failure of the pituitary gland to produce adequate levels of TSH. Additionally, women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) are at a greater risk of developing thyroid disorders. The symptoms of hypothyroidism include: An inability to tolerate the cold Fatigue Anovulation, resulting in missed or sporadic menstrual periods Heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding Decreased libido Weight gain Decreased appetite Constipation Dry skin Hypothyroidism is normally treated with hormone replacement therapy, depending upon the levels of TSH, T3, and T4 that are present. Women who have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) are, unfortunately, in greater danger of developing thyroid disorders because their hormone levels are already off kilter. Though the exact connection between these conditions has not been pinpointed, their similar symptoms will cause them to be watched closely by the women who suffer through them and the doctors who treat them. The other thing a women suffering Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) might do is to look into the Insulite Labs supplements that are available. In particular, the PCOS System offers hormone-balancing effects that have been scientifically calibrated to reverse the condition. That means there is very much hope here, and, for women who properly educate themselves and take the precautions necessary to thwart the effects of the condition, no reason why PCOS has to be interpreted as a thyroid disorder diagnosis. Learn more about the subject of thyroid disorders and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and how it could be affecting your ability to get pregnant, visit us on the web at www.pcos.insulitelabs.com. Insulite Laboratories, a Boulder, Colorado USA based company, is committed to reversing Insulin Resistance - a potentially dangerous imbalance of blood glucose and insulin. Scientific research has revealed that this disorder can be a primary cause of excess weight gain and obesity, plus Pre-Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes. Insulin Resistance can also underlie the cluster of increased risk factors for cardiovascular damage called Metabolic Syndrome (Syndrome X) as well as PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) - a major source of serious diseases as well as heartbreaking female infertility. Recognizing that there are millions of people who need this kind of systematic approach to reversing insulin resistance, Insulite Laboratories has, developed systems to address the underlying causes of Metabolic Syndrome, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Excess Weight/Obesity, Pre-Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes.
