The very common question of the students during internship application is "When is the best time?" Finding what is the best internship for you is the last question. Does the month really matter in applying for internships? It is oddly satisfying if you have got the right company. Be early and it is really up to you to be able to achieve it. |
Summer after sophomore and junior year. It is the efficient time for junior students. During this time they don't have a lot of tasks to do. Summer is a perfect time for them to relax or might as well hunt their prime company targets. If you applied for an internship now and they hired you, normally you have to answer right away will it be a "yes" or a "no". Dealing with this decision would be needing a lot of time to think whether you go or look for another one.
Fall semester. Most of the big companies are recruiting in the Fall semester for Summer intern positions. It really depends on the company, when they will hire an intern. Some companies say that they accept applications through January onwards. Some time frames disrupt the students scheduling so better be careful. Instead of skipping classes during fall look for a right company for you. Company varies their application from year to year so don't ever think what they've done in the past.
Things to remember.
Get the list of the company ahead of time. If you haven't got any notice from the company, get their attention. Don't just think or assume that you didn't get the job, do something to know. Contact them within a week and ask what happened to your application.
It is hard. School helps their students and I am sure that each school will have a best option for you. So always check out the college monthly bulletin. Well, If I were to ask when is the best time, I would tell to do it now. It's still up to you just prepared to try out an internship whenever you want.
