Papa New Guinea is one of the Earth’s mega diverse regions in Oceania that occupies the eastern half of the island of New Guinea. The country’s geography is diverse and, in places extremely rugged. Due to high levels of serious crime involved throughout the country, those who are planning a Papa Guinea should exercise a high degree of caution. Like any other country Papa New Guineas also demands a valid visa and a six month valid passport to enter the country. It is recommended that tourist must obtain visa prior to departure. Make sure to carry an onward or return ticket and proof of sufficient funds while entering the country. Visitors can get their visa on arrival at the Jackson International Airport in Port Moresby. Delays of international and domestic flights are common in Papa Guinea. Be careful and prepared enough for an extended stay at the airports. A tense situation with the very poor law and order remain in the mountainous areas around the Bougainville Island and in the cities of Lae and Port Morseby. Central Bougainville around the old Panguna mine is a 'No Go Zone' and the tourists are strongly recommended not to enter this area. Traveling alone in these areas increases the possibility of crime attacks and sexual harassment. Travelers are advised to be vigilant, particularly when arriving in the late evenings or early mornings. Try to dress up conservatively in public. Local transport in public buses is not recommended as the buses are unreliable due to poor maintenance and are a common target for criminals. Papa Guinea gives great value to its local laws and customs. The country does not entertain dual nationality. Homosexual act and adultery are illegal and punishment may include imprisonment.
