You can't beat advertising in a place that's super hot. Back when the Web first started, free online ads got big response. Hard to believe that now. But in those days there wasn't much to read and everything was new and exciting. Flash forward to today and Facebook is all the rage with more than 1 BILLION users. Ads there are pulling in big results. Go figure why Facebook is still losing money ($50 million in this year's 3rd quarter.) But that's even more reason why the Face is working hard to give you and me good reasons to spend money there buying ads to promote our small businesses. Why Google ads earns $100 Million per day, so why can't Facebook do the same? The good news for YOU is Facebook ads are proving highly effective. A new study done by Facebook and comScore show promoted ads reach five times the audience of regular posts. That audience tends to be people who are not highly involved with Facebook, like the guy who only posts once per month (hmmm, sounds like me.) These "less involved" folks may be that way because they're so busy running their successful businesses or living their affluent lives. Large percentages of those who click on Facebook ads buy. The emphasis is to sign prospects to your autoresponder series or email updates to keep them in the loop and moving toward a lifetime of purchases. The trick is to get your promoted posts on news feeds. Hit the right audience and it's like pouring gasoline on a fire. Your product, service, or idea can sell beyond your wildest imagination. Big ad agencies who work with Facebook say promoted posts (Facebook's polite term for ads) engage 70 percent of fans compared to the usual 2.5 percent for standard posts. The comScore study showed people who responded to a Facebook ad were frequently 60 percent more likely to buy. Placing Facebook ads looks eerily familiar to Google AdWords and works much the same way. You can stipulate how much you want to pay for a promoted post, then keep your bill at that level throughout the life of the post. Facebook.com/business explains it all very well with included flash videos. So as you consider new online promotion strategies, this is a big one to add to your arsenal. Spend a little time studying FB, then jump in and see how well promoted posts work for your business. This could be your ticket to massively better sales and visibility.
