Liquid vaporization refrigeration cycle is composed by working medium vaporization, steam pressure boost, high pressure steam condensation and high pressure liquid pressure reduction these four process.
The Refrigeration Principle of Central Air Conditioner
Liquid vaporization refrigeration achieves refrigeration by endothermic effect during liquid vaporization and exothermic effect during liquid condensation. Liquid evaporates to steam. When liquid (refrigerant) is inside a closed container, there is only liquid and steam produced by liquid inside the container, without any other gas, and the liquid and the steam will reach a balance under a certain pressure. At this time, the gas is called saturated steam, the pressure is called saturated pressure, and the temperature is called saturated temperature. Under balance condition, liquid stops vaporization. If now take out some steam from the container, the liquid will continue vaporization to produce some steam in order to keep that balance. During vaporization, the liquid must absorb heat, which is called latent heat of vaporization. It comes from cooled object to cool itself. In order to make this process continuous, steam should be taken out constantly from the container and make it condense to liquid and go back to the container. If the steam taken out from the container is condensed to steam directly, the temperature of necessary cooling medium will be lower than the evaporating temperature of liquid. We hope the steam condensation is going on under normal temperature. Thus the pressure of steam should be raised to saturated pressure under normal temperature.
Refrigerant liquid will evaporate under low temperature and low pressure to make efficiency of refrigeration. Besides, it will condense under normal temperature and high pressure, emitting heat to surroundings or cooling medium. The steam will turn into high pressure liquid after condensation under normal temperature and high pressure. So only after its pressure is reduced to evaporating pressure can it enter the container.
