The court has directed the CBI to file their objections byThursday, when the matter will come up for hearing. Swinging into action a day after filing an FIR against Mr.Yeddyurappa in connection with illegal mining, CBI officials onWednesday conducted simultaneous raids at the senior BJPleader's residences here and in some other places in thestate. A joint team of CBI officials from Hyderabad and Bangalore alsoraided residences of Mr. Yeddyurappa's sons B Y Raghavendra,MP, and B Y Vijayendra as also his son-in-law R N Sohan Kumar hereand their home district Shimoga, police sources said. A nine-member team headed by Inspector General of CBILakshminarayana commenced the raids at Mr.
Yeddyurappa'sresidences in Dollars Colony and Race Course Road here besides afirm owned by one of his sons, the sources told PTI. The raids come in the wake of the CBI registering a case againstMr. Yeddyurappa and others in line with the May 11 Supreme Courtdirective ordering a probe by the central agency into alleged unduefavours shown by him to firms involved in illegal mining in lieu ofdonations to a charitable trust run by his kin when he was thechief minister. The raids began at 6.15 a.m. and would continue throughout the day,the sources said.
The CBI action comes at a time when Mr. Yeddyurappa is facing theheat of internal turmoil in the BJP triggered by a revolt by hisloyalists gunning for a change of leadership of D V Sadananda Gowdawith nine ministers and many MLAs submitting their resignations tohim. After aggressive postures that pushed the BJP's first evergovernment in the south to the brink, Mr. Yeddyurappa on Mondaysaid he had decided to quit the party but was putting it offheeding the advise of party senior leader Arun Jaitely and others. Mr.
Yeddyurappa, who was forced to quit last year after theLokayukta report indictment on illegal mining, is also battling aspate of cases for alleged irregularities in land denotification.
