On the other hand, blankets are used for reinforcing vegetation on slopes and ditch bottoms. These blankets should be smolder resistant and of uniform thickness with material fibers, being evenly distributed over the area of the blanket. Additionally barrier methods are also used for the same, in which the man- made and natural terraces, contour barrier and ploughing are included. Dikes and channels are also acts as a barrier and as effective erosion control method. Some dikes are not only stop the flow of water and store it but also redirect through the channel. These channels are made up of concrete and other non- porous material that reduces the possibility of runoff and suits best to control heavy water runoff. To remove the water at regulated rate, it may also be incorporated with drainage ponds and overflow drains. These controls methods are typically used in commercial and heavy residential areas and one of the most expensive techniques to control erosion.
