One good aspect of ‘globalization’ is that the opportunities are now omnipresent and available to all. The limitations on geography have been withdrawn and eligible entrepreneurs are given a fair chance to make any nation their land of work. Australia immigration for Entrepreneurs makes provisions for the new age business-minds to pursue their dreams on this land of opportunities. The Department of Immigration and Citizenship makes a mention of the subclass 188 which is also known as Australian Business Visa (subclass 188). The good thing with the subclass is that it addresses specific needs and requirements of the business community. It goes beyond the usual immigration guidelines and makes provisions on a smoother business establishment that includes SEZs ‘special economic zones’, benefits on Tax, trade benefits and special packages. Australian Business Visa (subclass 188) makes a classification of the visa under three heads: • The Business Innovation stream is specifically aimed for those who wish to start a new business entity or acquire an existing business in Australia. • The Investor stream makes a call to all those investors across the globe who already have a ready possession of AUD 1.5million and seek an investment opportunity in any of the Australian state or territory, with a purpose to carry on with the investment after it has matured • The Significant investor stream makes special provisions for all those who already have a ready possession of AUD 5million and seek an investment opportunity in any of the Australian state or territory, with a purpose to carry on with the investment after it has matured The entrepreneurs are therefore given an entire spectrum to selectively place their investment. The immigration policy on Australia Immigration for Entrepreneurs very clearly spells out the objective as economic viability remains the guiding force to all investment or business decisions. The intention is to allow both i.e. the entrepreneur and Australia benefit from the immigration. The policy guidelines further necessitate that the entrepreneur must also score a minimum of 65 points on Skillselect with the investment criteria. The investment should result in significant job creation for the local population directly and on continuum. Also, the investment should be carried on even after the maturity. On the documentation part, the entrepreneur is supposed to show papers that validate the source of his income or investment. The money should have been legally acquired and complies well with the taxation part. On the procedural part, the business entrepreneur is required to first place an EOI ‘Expression of Interest’ on the Skillselect. The EOI should accompany relevant details on education, experience and funds. The entrepreneur is required to show a prior experience of handling the business of the same nature and volume. The application must also mention about the State government nomination or sponsorship to pursue any business interests at a particular region or state. Subsequent to the submission of EOI, Skillselect reviews the application and based on the points score / merit list, in invitation is sent to the entrepreneur for a possible immigration.
