If you are single, you will know how overwhelming it is to find advice about relationships and being single. Who wouldn't want to meet the match of their dreams? So often so-called dating experts (who are usually married) astound us with obvious wisdom but I am sure you get the sense their point of view isn't always too accurate. It can be lonely and frustrating being single, and sometimes you just want to know that the person doling out the wisdom and advice is walking in your shoes. Whether you are a newbie in the dating arena or an experienced veteran, you deserve some quality advice, tips and especially the do's and don'ts. In reality there are no magic formulas or pills and no shrewd ways of trapping Mr or Miss Right. But what you need to know is there are some important facts that you must remember as you make your way through the dating world. 1. Are you really ready for this? Know exactly what you want to get out of this experience Don't set yourself up for disappointment - expect some speed bumps along the way. 2. Be the best version of YOU. Don't go overboard. People like a nice appearance, but appreciate even more a genuine person. 3. Evaluate your dating outcomes vs your time-frame. If you honestly want to be married in a few years, then tackle dating with that outcome in mind. If you are more laid back about dating, then be straightforward with those you may date. 4. Be confident. Do all those little things that will boost your confidence levels. Stay away from sex talk the first time you go out with someone. The other individual will respect you more in the long run if you don't bring up this 'touchy' issue. 5. Set the right kind of expectations. Do you have a realistic chance of being with this person? As the scouts say, be prepared. Dating is not just based on your personality but on the whole packaging you give to others. 6. Consider where you might be able to meet people you'd like to date. Participate in drama groups or a gymnasium, anything where you are likely to meet potential partners and the kind of people you are seeking to meet. 7. If things aren't going as planned, it's OK to take a break from dating. Reflect on what went right and what went wrong. Look on the bright side and give dating another go. 8. Chances are very unlikely that you'll meet your perfect match right out of the gate. So enjoy dating for what it is, meeting new people and even making new friends as you go. 9. Don't always be available to the other person. People still like the thrill of the chase when dating. Extending the chase for as long as possible will make the anticipation greater. Last, but not least, have a good time. It might be a bit scary, but will be a new and exciting part of your life. The different types of people you will meet while dating will enrich your life. If you meet the person of your dreams or you don't, appreciate the fact that you've met some great people and you're better for it. For another great article on dating click here.
