Easier than most people think is growing hot chilli peppers from seeds. Nothing could be further from the truth as it is often regarded as a specialist plant that is difficult to grow. As you get to eat the results, growing peppers from pepper seeds is extremely easy and fun! First some seeds need to be get hold of and there are two options for the same. 1. Save some seeds from a pepper pod Careful cutting it open and remove the seeds, do this simply take a good healthy looking chilli pod. Be sure to not rub your eyes (or anything else!) while doing this, to avoid any nasty burns! Placing somewhere warm and dry such as in an airing cupboard, place the seeds you take out onto some tissue paper. As these may be diseased, be sure to discard any discolored or abnormal seeds. To ensure they are really dry, leave them to dry for about 2 weeks. Simply place them in an air tight container in a cool dark place, if you need to store your chilli seeds before planting them. 2. Buy your chilli seeds Both in garden stores as well as on the Internet, pepper seeds are becoming much more widely available. At reasonable prices, increasingly more interesting varieties such as habaneros, nagas and poblano seeds are widely available. It is a great idea to grow more than one variety each year, as many of the different varieties take differing amounts of time to germinate, grow fruit and ripen. Once your plants begin to produce peppers, this will increase the variety of results and fruit you will get. In a simple container or in the garden, you can plant peppers. If it's a little cool make a cloche, greenhouse or just pop them inside near a window as peppers do respond better to a warm climate. To ripen ready for picking, peppers need the warm climate for growth. For small patios, terraces or in an indoor situation, peppers are compact in size which make them ideal.
