Choosing from among the selection of authentic Menorca retreats from Bartle Holidays is just half the battle: if you’re intent on having a great time on the island with children, you should know where to go as far as their preferences are concerned. Here are a few destinations to start planning a successful itinerary that takes the children into account. Sample the Delights at the St Patrici Vineyard and Cheese Factory Well ok, wine is off-limits to kids, but the rest of what this little family-run establishment has to offer—the sights, the sounds and the flavours—is something the children will be happy to experience. Located just a few kilometres beyond the town of Ferreries, St Patrici is simply gorgeous: it is Menorcan countryside at its finest. If you’re staying in one of the excellent Bartle Holidays villas, you really should factor in a trip to St Patrici. Children can learn how cheese is made—at least the renowned Mahon-Menorca variety—and even learn some history with a visit to St Patrici’s own cheese museum. If you happen to fall in love with their cheese and wine (as so many do), you can easily make some purchases at their farm shop. Admission is free for children. Monte Toro Perhaps nothing can inspire wonder more than encountering landscapes you wouldn't see in your everyday life. Take the sweeping panoramic views from Monte Toro, for instance: at an altitude of 358 metres above sea level, Monte Toro is the island’s highest point, from which you can see to the horizon. With a pair of binoculars, you can even see the neighbouring island of Mallorca. If you’re staying in one of the wonderful retreats from Bartle Holidays, a short excursion to Monte Toro is a must-do on your itinerary. Just on the outskirts of the town of Es Mercadal, at the centre of Menorca, Monte Toro’s summit is accessible via a winding road that also passes by a medieval sanctuary. At the summit there is a gift shop and a cafe-restaurant called Sa Posada del Toro, where the views are simply breathtaking. Zoo and Children’s Playground Of course, a child-friendly Menorca itinerary would not be complete without the element of play. Easily accessible on the main Ciutadella road, a visit to the Castillo Adventure Playground is an excellent addition to a family get-away. There is no entrance fee and the play facilities inside are extensive: including a swimming pool, shops and a dining place. It is also a great place to introduce kids to go-karting. You can then move on to the Lloc de Menorca (or Menorca’s Zoo), a nature park that is home to a diverse variety of animals and colourful birds. If the kids get hungry while exploring it has its own dining area and the local produce shop is also worth checking out. All these attractions and plenty more are available within easy access of so many of the wonderful Bartle Holidays villas on Menorca – your hardest job will be deciding on your itinerary.
