The mechanics of getting into Rome’s centre on the Rome Ciampino airport transfer are relatively routine. However, much as it may appear to be heresy, you might want to be sure you’ll actually enjoy your break once you’re there. After all, is Eternal Rome really your cup of tea? City centre breaks The first thing to question is whether or not a city-centre break is for you. The Rome Ciampino airport transfer is going to whisk you into the centre of what is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in the world - but a city it is nevertheless. What that means is that there’s going to be a lot of culture, roads, buildings and general hustle and bustle. Of course, the city has some magnificent open squares and parks, perhaps the most famous of which is the Villa Borghese. You’ll be able to get some great open-air in those locations but even so, this is a city centre holiday and you’ll need to be someone who enjoys a lot of walking and sightseeing to get the best out of it. History and culture To really get the best out of a break here, you’ll need to be a pretty avid fan of history. Modern Romans are, of course, both proud of their past and heritage but also keen to point out that this is a modern capital city and a major centre of government and commerce. True as that is, age and history ooze out of the pores of this city wherever you look. In the centre, it’s wonderful because it’s like being in the middle of the world’s largest open-air museum. It’s absolutely marvellous but it does assume that you enjoy the past and looking at or experiencing it. The city also has some incredible galleries and museums containing works of the old masters – but that assumes you’re a devotee of the arts and appreciate high culture. A bustling city It is, as it has been for much of its history, a busy city. Its great centres, like the Vatican or Spanish Steps, can be busy at peak times. If you like bustle and excitement that’s something you’ll love, but if you like quiet isolation and contemplation it might not be for you. Of course, you can try visiting the city outside of the peak tourist season. Then you’ll see a very different facet of this enchanting place. A discerning town Rome is not a very brash city. Entertainment is sophisticated and starts late in the evenings. There is a nightclub scene based in areas like Testaccio and Ostiense but don’t expect a culture generally of riotous excess. If you like happy hours and people spilling out onto the streets, then this city might not be for you. Of course nowhere can appeal to everyone. However, the Rome Ciampino airport transfer will deliver you to the heart of a city that most have found appealing over the past 2000 years. The chances are you’ll be joining their number!
