It is indeed difficult to choose wines if you have very little knowledge about them. There is actually a wide array of categories and it is difficult to make your choice from among them. How would you actually choose a wine that other people would also enjoy? Wine and its pairing with food is something that people need to experience and learn. Here are some tips to keep in mind before serving wines. Some wines are better stored at certain temperatures. A very freezing and cold Chardonnay will lose its taste if it is kept at too cold a temperature. White wines should be served at a temperature between 43 degree Fahrenheit and 53 degree Fahrenheit. You have to chill the bottle an hour before it is served. Sparkling wines as well as champagnes can be served cooler, at 55 and 65 degree Fahrenheit. Invest in some good quality stemware if you want to enjoy good wine. The right glass for the wine will enhance the experience and the thrill of having good wine. Wine glasses usually have a large bowl or a cup to make the wine spread and breathe. The mixing of the wine with the air lets the wine to spread its aroma around. White wines The Chardonnay is a white wine which is different from others by fermentation and aging in oak barrels. The oak barrels give the wines a special aroma to make it creamy and nutty. The wine can include tastes of peach, pineapple, lemon, pear or vanilla. This wine is regarded as table wine. Muscat or Moscato has low alcohol content and a wonderful aroma and a musky taste. This is mostly a dessert wine. The wine also includes honey and gardenia and has the taste of tropical and citrus fruits. Pinot Grigio is somewhat colorful than other white wines. There is some nice crispness in its acidity and the wine elements include citrus, pear and some other spices. Riesling is another low alcohol wine made from grapes in Germany. Riesling is prepared for many types of food. It is actually a dry wine with elements of honeysuckle and peach. The Sauvignon Blanc is one of the best of the aromatic wine. It has a grassy fragrance and it is spicier than the Chardonnay. Red wines The red wines come mainly from Italy and other places with warm temperature. They have luscious and full berry flavor and there is high acidic content in the wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon is a flavored red wine which spends around 15-30 months in the oak barrel. It earns a cedar taste due to such aging. It may contain black cherry, plum and spicy elements. The Merlot is a softer and less intense red wine and it is ready to drink sooner. It has some dried smoothness to it. The Pinot Noir is a delicate wine from Burgundy in France. It includes elements of strawberry, black cherry and raisin. Sangiovese is a dry red wine from Italy while Syrah is flavorful wine of France. The Zinfandel is a sweet blush wine while there are sparkling wines and Champagnes. There are extra dry, semi dry and sweet wine categories too.
