Are you considering getting a tattoo but do not know where to put it? This is a big deal and lacking consideration of where to get your tattoo can cost you; either it will cost you because you hate the location of your tattoo and then have to get laser tattoo removal or it will cost you self-esteem. You want your tattoo in a good spot that will help you feel tough, sexy, or whatever. Of course, one thing that people often overlook when considering the location for their sweet new ink is whether or not that spot will hurt to get tattooed. There are spots on the body that definitely hurt more than others when getting a tattoo and it is for a couple reasons. Unfortunately, many people do not realize this before it is too late and the needle is already buzzing. Here, my friends, is a list of the top 10 most painful spots to get a tattoo. According to whom? Tattoo artists. Note, these are not necessarily in order of the most painful to the least or anything, just a list of the 10 most painful spots. 1. The back of the knees. This is due to the thin skin that is on the back of the knee and the lack of fatty tissue here. 2. The inside of the hand, such as the palm. This is because of the thin skin on this side of your hand. Despite having fatty tissue on the inside of the hand, the thin skin allows for the nerves to feel the needle more. 3. The ribs- front or back. This hurts a lot because of the lack of fatty tissue in the area and so the needle is felt by the bone a lot more. Of course, this is only a problem for skinny people. So if you have some weight in this area of your body, it will not be as much of a problem for you. 4. The neck. This is because of the lack of fatty tissue in the area. It is even worse if you are a man with a prominent Adam’s apple and the tattoo covers this area as well. The bone here is delicate and will feel the needle. 5. The elbow. Both the inside of the elbow and the outside of the elbow are painful. The outside of the elbow hurts due to the low amount of fat to help protect the bone; the inside of the elbow hurts because of the nerves not having as much protection. 6. Right behind your ear is another bad spot. This one apparently hurts like crazy because of the thin skin covering this spot. 7. The eyelid. Need I say more? 8. Inside the lip. There is no fatty tissue protecting the nerves on this side of your lip. 9. The foot. There is often little to no fat on the top of your foot and so the bone feels the pain. On the bottom of your foot is not as much of a problem. 10. The ankle, this is the same deal as the top of the foot, little to no fat protecting the bone. Also, the nerves.
