Goa is famous in India as well as throughout the world for being the 'coolest party place' in India, and it surely does live up to thise imagemoniker. By means of area it may be the smallest state in India and also have the fourth smallest population, but it is still the richest city in India with a GDP per capita two and a half times more than that of the entire country. The entire city is filled teeming with foreigners and domestic tourists almost all throughout the year. Formerly a province of the Portugese, Goa still lives under its influence. It is filled with beautiful beaches, churches, and other world heritage sites which makes it all the more special. No doubt is it any surprise that Goa was named as the city with the best quality of life in India? The best thing about Goa is undoubtedly the beaches. Ample beaches of all types are available here, and one can choose one depending on their mood at that time. Many are commercialized and fun, some are beautiful and filled with natural beauty, while some are calm and serene. It is recommended to explore both North and South Goa to get all kinds of experiences, but there are a few beaches which cannot should not be missed for anything. One of the most important beaches is the Calangute Beach. It is easily the most commercialized beach in Goa. Located in North Goa, it is favourite amongst foreigners, tourists, and locals a like. Various water-related activities are available here. Along with Calangute, the adjacent Baga Beach also shares the same amount of popularity. While the day belongs to Calangute, the night life shines at Baga. Legendary clubs like the Club Tito and the Cafe Mambo are located on this beach, which attract a lot of late night partying. The other beach that is famous is the Anjuna Beach, for totally different reasons. Anjuna beach still revels in the legacy of the hippies that earlier inhabited this area. Places like Curlies have a cult following. Some shacks stay open all throughout the night, and is famous for its rave parties. The much talked about Paradiso Disco is also located on Anjuna Beach. A beach that stands in total contrast to the other commercialised beaches is the Benaulim Beach. It is located very near to Colva Beach, and is a beautiful, calm and serene beach. It is located in South Goa and gets crowds only during the peak season of December. There are many beaches that have something special and unique about them. One aspect that may make the stay at Goa more fun is staying in the beach hotels. It is one of the most profitable businesses here in Goa as beaches are what people come to Goa for. What can be better than waking up to the sound of waves crashing on the shore? What can be more fun than or running for a dip in the sea without any hassle of travel or getting ready?
