If you are looking out for a place where you can relax and destress yourself, then an Ooty sightseeing tour would prove great for you. The enchanting hill resort which stands on the Nilgiri mountains in Tamil Nadu is one of the best attraction in South India. No wonder, Ooty (or Udhangamangalam) is rightly described by Jawaharlal Nehru as the queen of hills. Ooty is situated at an altitude of 2240 metres above the sea level. There is no dearth of transportation facilities to Ooty, be it via air, rail, or road. Coimbatore airport is the nearest airport. If you are planning to reach ooty via rail, then the Nilgiri expresses offers services which culminate in Metupalayam, the foothills of Niligiris. The train journey will give you the best scenic experiences all throughout. If you have a plan to travel by bus, then don’t worry, there are frequent bus services to Ooty via Metupalayam. Ooty can be visited in all seasons. There are many exotic places to visit in Ooty which can be covered in a minimum of three days. Here are some of the best attractions of Ooty tourism.

Doddabetta peak: This is one of the best sightseeing sites. Located 10kms away from Ooty, it is the highest peak in South India. Carry a camera and click pictures of the valley below as a part of Ooty sightseeing.

Ooty botanical gardens: The botanical garden maintained by the horticultural department of Tamil Nadu covers a large area. If you are a nature lover, then this is the best part of Ooty sightseeing. Flower shows and cultural programs are held annually.

Annamalai temple: It is one of the most highly revered religious sites in South India. If you are a devotee of Lord Muruga, you should pay a visit to this famous temple. The temple is located 20kms from Ooty.

Madumalai wildlife sanctuary: Situated on the border of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka it has a diversity of birds and animals. This is a tiger reserve, and if you are lucky enough you might behold these magnificent beasts. Rest houses offer great services for relaxing. It is a pride of Ooty tourism.

Pykara: Situated close to mudumalai, this lake is an epitome of nature’s beauty. Boat riding can be a mindblowing experience here. You can relax at the cafeteria of the boat house. Another site in Pykara is the water falls. Other attractions are the dam and powerhouse.

Conoor: When you come to Ooty never miss this hill station. Conoor is 19kms from Ooty. If you are a fun loving person, you must take a ride in the toy trains accessible in the Nilgiris. If you are looking for luxurious hotels, then Taj is the best. Have a look at the fruit show hosted in the Sims Park.

Echo rocks: It is also known as Lamb rocks. The view of the plains of Coimbatore and the tea estates from the rocks is a ravishing experience of Ooty sightseeing. This place is 9kms from Conoor.
