Attention all Maids of Honor, We know you and your fellow bridesmaids are hard at work helping the bride with all the wedding planning. On top of that, you've got the highly anticipated Bridal Shower to worry about too! Well, we’re here to help. How about we stay away from the stuffy bridal shower that our moms used to throw and try something with a little more fun and excitement? We’re thinking intimates, negligees, and unmentionables! In other words, we’re talking lingerie party! What better way to celebrate the bride-to-be’s upcoming union than by showering her with ravishing lingerie that will knock her groom’s socks off! Read on for a breakdown on how to host a successful lingerie party. Step One: Invitations Start off with an invitation list, which are typically the bride’s closest friends and relatives who have been invited to the wedding. Send out invitations at least a month in advance with a lovely design that fits the theme. Spice things up by including a note assigning each guest to bring something “naughty” or “nice.” Also, if you can get away with this without the bride disowning you, include her measurements so the guests can bring gifts in the correct size. Step Two: Décor Create a playful ambiance to put your guests in the mood. We suggest creating the feel of a boudoir boutique; soft hues and sheer linens in shades similar to the wedding motif are ideal. Create an eye-catching backdrop using knickers on a clothesline to bring an element of playfulness to the party. For a feminine touch, flowers are always a plus. Step Three: Refreshments Depending on what time you are hosting the party, you can plan for a light lunch with snacks and finger foods or a cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres. Since you will likely have games and activities planned, a heavy, formal meal may not be ideal for you and your guests. Take note that desserts are always a big hit when you have a large group of women. Step Four: Party Games Despite the fact that it’s a lingerie party, try to keep things appropriate to keep your guests from feeling uncomfortable. If there is too high a level of embarrassment in participating, your guests might not want to join in on the fun. We like the idea of a game like, “Whose panties are these?” Tell each guest ahead of time to bring a (NEW) pair of sexy panties that represents herself. The bride will pull each pair out of a bag and try to guess which guest brought them. If she guesses correctly she can keep them. Another fun game is a grown-up version of hot potato called “pass the teddy.” Winner gets to keep the sexy lingerie as a party gift! Step Five: Thank You Gifts Let all your guests know how grateful you are for their attendance and participation with lovely parting gifts. You can do something simple like small candies in a satchel or fill miniature plastic bottles with lingerie detergent for a useful gift. You can also make simple bra and panty cookies using a heart-shaped cookie cutter and store-bought sugar cookie dough. With all these simple ideas, you’ll be able to throw the bride a fun and festive shower that everyone can enjoy.
