The 8th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair(ICIF) is expected to attract more than 15,000 overseas buyers from95 countries and regions. Transaction volume at the fair isexpected to reach 140 billion RMB (22.2 billion USD). Fair organizers said that all 31 provinces, autonomous regions andmunicipalities on the mainland, as well as Hong Kong, Macao andTaiwan, will send delegations to the fair this year. A total of1,928 exhibitors, 30 more than last year, will showcase culturalproducts and technologies. The main venue for this year's fair, the Convention and ExhibitionCenter, contains eight separate halls featuring creative life,cultural industry products, TV and film animation and games,cultural heritage, publications, paintings and crafts. The ShenzhenPoly Theater in Nanshan District will be a sub-venue for theperforming arts. The Press and Publication Hall has been expanded to 15,000 squaremeters, 7,500 square meters more than last year. A series ofreading activities and book fairs will be held during the fair.Hall 2 and Hall 6 have been combined into a Creative Design andLiving Hall to display new design trends and fashionablelifestyles. The Ministry of Culture will release a handbook that detailsprojects in the Chinese culture industry this year. Severalbusiness introduction meetings and contract-signing ceremonies forkey projects will also be held during the fair. This year s fairincludes an entire hall featuring folk arts, techniques andproducts selected from nearly 20 provinces and autonomous regions. Fair organizers said that Shenzhen's intangible cultural heritageitems account for about 10 percent of the fair's total items andinclude the Pinghu Paper Dragon Dance. The fair also will includespecial exhibitions by famous Chinese contemporary art masters andoverseas art galleries. More professional services to culturalcopyright projects are also being offered to companies. So far, thefair has collected a total of 3,319 cultural industry financingprojects from 31 provinces and cities. The fair includes more than 30 performances, shows, dramas andconcerts to be launched in theaters across Shenzhen and additionalcreative activities will be held at more than 40 sub-venues,according to fair organizers. This year's Hong Kong booth willdisplay the city's animation, design and broadcast industries andthe Taiwan booth will feature precious relics.
