have always wondered as to why a lot of the atheists I have conversed with were once Roman Catholics? I don’t know if anyone else that reads this post has had the same observation, my guess would be yes. I would like to do a study on that connection. Maybe it is because … they believe (or are told) that Baptism is necessary for salvation (CCC 1257), or maybe it is “Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation,” (CCC 846), or “The Church affirms that for believers the sacraments of the New Covenant are necessary for salvation, (CCC 1129)? The list goes on and on…! I ask too that if a Catholic needs to go to confession they must not be living rightly by the law. Is this a good example that the RC cannot live by the accordance of the Law? In fact after confession the priest will then give them some things to DO….more works! If you are a Catholic can you fulfill the requirements for that your own church says you need for salvation? You know you can’t! Have you done enough to be saved? Here is the depth charge: Romans 3: 27-30 (NASB) 27 Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. 28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, 30 since indeed God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith is one. As an escapee from that heresy called the Roman Catholic Church, I again ask for prayers for enlightenment and revelation for the Roman Catholic (Pope) follower. God Bless Brian Mason
