Why Do I Have to Wait Six to Eight Weeks Between Tattoo Removal Sessions? However, there is a drawback to this form of tattoo removal; the wait periods in between sessions are somewhat long. The wait time between laser tattoo removal sessions is approximately six to eight weeks; that’s a month and a half to two months that you have to do nothing about your tattoo removal and just wait for the next session. A lot can happen in a month and a half to two months; you can get married, have a child, or get a new job, etc. Bottom line, your whole life can change in the time that you have to wait in between sessions. Why do you have to wait so long in between sessions? Well, that is a very good question! And the answer to that question is just as good. It is not that the doctors and studios who are doing the laser tattoo removal are evil and just want to make you suffer; it is not like they enjoy the waiting time you have in between sessions, that would not make sense. The first reason is because that is approximately the amount of time body requires to break down the non-active ink and process it through the body. The body does not tend to even get the process completely going until around week five. So, this pushes into week six if your body does not start until week five. Some people have fantastic immune systems and this process can start sooner so they are good to go by week six. Another reason for this length of time is because the body often needs that long amount of time to completely renew the skin and heal after the last session. Theoretically, you could go back before the eight weeks are up but this would cause quite a bit of trauma to the affected area, and unnecessarily, I may add. Usually, the skin is good enough to go after four or five weeks but just to make sure, there is some extra time of healing. Also, having the amount of time between sessions can help you actually save money. How does this happen? Well, if you were to go back to the studio before you body was completely healed after the last session, then the next treatment would not be as effective since the body would be preoccupied with dealing with the last treatment and so you would be wasting your money on the rushed treatments.
