PDF stands for portable document format which runs on Microsoft Windows operating system. The PDF creator is an application which helps converting documents from Microsoft word to PDF format and vice verse. The application uses an internal computer software same as that of a printer driver i.e., which can create a virtual printer with user interface and API resemblance, which allows any file to be printed on the Physical printer. The Word to PDF creator is developed by the PDF Forge and is available in multilingual format which i a printer as well as a creator adware. The PDF creator is written in third generation programming language which is Microsoft Visual Basics. The visual basic is an integrated development environment (IDE) which was first released in 1991 and is relatively easy to learn. The application comes free of cost and works with both 32-bits and 64-bits windows operating system including the windows 7. The pdf creator application can convert any type of file format including the PostScript formats (.ps) to pdf format. Some of the file formats which the pdf creator can convert are SVG, JPEG, PS, EPS, PNG, PSD, BMP, TIFF,PCX, RAW. TXT, PCl,. The application can also generate a sign for the pdf documents it also lets the user to opt to enable or disable printing option or restrict any editing to the Original text or image in the document which is facilitated by choosing passwords by the user or the owner of the document file. The sources have spread the controversial news that the application which was launched in between 2009 and 2012 had included a closed-source which was installed with an adware toolbar and was considered to be threat by the users. The version 0.9.7 however, gave a pop up box stating to modify the internet explorer search engine and other entities to facilitate and give informative response in a new window which was allotted by the toolbar. Later many changes were made to the application to remove the issue with Word to PDF creator. PDF Forge introduced a FAQ entry to make aware to its users regarding the toolbar stating that the toolbar was not malicious and harmful for the system. Later when, Source forge took over Word templates from PDF Forge, in November 2011, made this toolbar optional with a tick box, unless it is declined it will still be installed. However, if the box remains ticked, the PDF creator will download the toolbar that is usually synchronized from another website. Later, in early 2012, the toolbar was discontinued with a new version 1 .3.0 and upgraded with my start toolbar from Incredibar. The unfortunate controversy continued as Word templates updated into many new versions along with the side package of toolbar installation, the latest version was launched as on 27th of March with 1 .6.2 version which again has the Trustworthy Toolbar.
