The CompTIA Project+ certification is considered to be an entry-level project management credential, which is almost in par with the PMI’s CAPM. It authenticates that project managers and team members have the typical project management abilities to help them finish projects on time and within budget. When compared to PMP there are no prerequisites, and candidates are not required to submit an application. Project+ certification is a considered to be quality certification for project managers who are yet to meet the requirements of the PMP certification. This certification would exhibit to potential employers that you have the basic project management knowledge which you can use as a stepping stone for your next project management oriented certification. Project+ is most comparable with CAPM. The difference between CAPM and Project+ is the experience required and the background: CAPM requires a baccalaureate or equivalent university degree, plus either 1,500 hours of on-the-job project management experience or 23 hours of classroom training in project management; Project+ makes no such requirements. While this makes Project+ easier to attain, few may rationalise that it is less valuable. However for those who aspire to do their PMP and who are yet to have the requisite experience , Project+ can be considered as workable stepping stone towards PMP. Project+ certification is officially based on the PMBOK, but it's a much shorter test than the PMP. It is believed that Project+ certified professionals own the technical project management skills, business intelligence and interpersonal communication skills to successfully deliver IT and business projects on time and under budget. The certification test for CompTIA Project+ certification exam consists of 100 questions which need to be answered in 90 minutes. The passing score is 710 on a scale of 100-900.Unlike PMI, once you have passed; there are no requirements for maintaining the certification. Benefits of attaining Project+ Certification • Certified Project+ professionals would have the necessary skills to plan and implement IT projects effectively. • Considered to be a stepping stone for other Project Management certifications • Certified professionals can also expect an increase in projects and responsibilities assigned to them • Also, as stated earlier this certification can be considered as a stepping stone to attain other project management certifications.
