Strong antibiotics and painkillers can provide some temporary relief to people suffering from excruciating joint pains. However, such relief is not likely to be long-lasting – and these medications might also have significant adverse side-effects. This is precisely why contemporary orthopaedic specialists tend to recommend natural bone care methods, which would be more effective and would not be counter-productive either. In the present discourse, we will deliberate on some such easy orthopaedic healthcare methods: 1. Massages – These are particularly useful for alleviating hip pains. Professional masseurs use medically approved massage oils, which, over time, bring down the discomfort levels at and around the joint – bringing back the lost limb mobility levels. After a hip joint replacement too, massages are mentioned in the rehabilitation guidelines. 2. Acupuncture – You can bring down the necessity of having to go for complicated shoulder or knee replacements (primarily due to sciatica problems), by opting for acupuncture. The procedure via which thin needles are inserted at strategic positions of the troublesome limbs is instrumental in reducing pains. Acupuncture is a proven remedial course for back pains as well. 3. Using CPM machines – After a joint replacement surgery, any good orthopaedic doctor would prescribe using a Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) machine, to keep the affected limb properly mobilized – so that other complications do not crop up. In general too, you can consider using CPM devices, to keep your limbs active and healthy. Apart from improving joint flexibility, CPM also prevents the formation of problematic scar tissues. 4. Warm baths – Having baths in cold water is practically a ‘no-no’, for any person with chronic orthopaedic problems. A qualified surgeon in Kolkata would advise patients to bathe in warm water – preferably in a spacious bath tub. The tendons and muscles would remain relaxed, and joint pains would start decreasing naturally. 5. Yoga postures – Squatting or heavy lifting exercises do have beneficial effects – but when you are already suffering from orthopaedic ailments, you need to stay well away from them. Instead, you should go for relatively light yoga exercises, which would keep your limbs nicely functional, without putting too much pressure on them. Make sure that the floor on which you are doing yoga is not too slippery. A sudden fall can force you to go for an expensive knee joint replacement surgery! 6. Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation – If the pain levels in your bone joint(s) are gradually increasing, do not simply rush for a replacement surgery in India – and try out this nerve stimulation method first. In this joint care technique, a low level of electric charge is passed through the painful joints – and this often removes all discomforts completely. Do not try this electrical stimulation method on your own, and book appointments at a good local orthopaedic clinic for the same. 7. Limb relaxation methods – If the joint problems are not already too aggravated, there remains a chance to tackle the problems via relaxation techniques. Medical researches have also proved that hypnosis is a powerful way to do away with the emotional trauma of a person suffering from extreme joint pains. Guided imagery is yet another safe and effective method to reduce bone discomforts. 8. Chiropractic services – These methods are primarily focused to restore the functionality of the nerves and tissues attached to bone joints, so that existing problems do not get the chance to assume serious proportions. If you are suffering from spinal problems, availing the services of a qualified chiropractor can save you from going for hip replacements. Bone alignment problems would also get rectified. 9. Watch your weight – Being anorexic or obese can both lead to serious orthopedic complications. You need to follow a regular diet (with a proper balance of calcium, proteins, omega fatty acids and other necessary nutritional supplements), and follow an active, healthy lifestyle. Get your BMI (body mass index) checked every month. After undergoing a joint replacement operation, follow all the rehabilitation techniques – before returning to your normal lifestyle. Keep the contact number of an orthopaedic specialist ready at hand, whom you can contact at any time. Popping strong painkillers are not the only way to deal with joint pains – there are several natural, and much safer, methods too!
