Drugs that contain a minimum dose of the hormone progestin are called the mini-pill. This is a type of chormonal contraception drugs, which is a good substitute for combined oral contraceptives (COC). So called mini-pills differ from the combined oral contraceptives in its composition: they contain progestin, which were created as a substitute of synthetic progesterone (a hormone produced by ovaries). Content of progestin in "mini pills" - from 300 to 500 micrograms. In the combined birth control drugs - synthetic substitutes of progesterone and estrogen are higher.
