If you are thinking “I’ve had it for a while now, I think it’s time to sell my iPad” then you have probably got a few ideas in mind what to do with the money. Maybe you’re thinking “I can sell my iPad for cash towards a new one, or maybe the latest gadget from Sony, Samsung etc…” Perhaps you are just short of a bit of cash and think the iPad is something you do not need any more – whatever your reason, you need to make sure you go about the process properly. In this article I discuss exactly what you should NOT do when you try to sell your iPad. DO NOT - Lie about its condition: Don’t think to yourself, “The only way I can sell my iPad is if I lie about its condition” this is a very dangerous precedent and will ultimately end up backfiring. For example, if you do this on an auction website, you may receive negative feedback and have a case formed against you to provide a refund. Not only will you then have negative feedback visible for all to see, but you may be blacklisted and have your account suspended – not good if you use the account regularly to sell your old stuff. You’ll also then have the device back and be left to ponder “Hmm, now where can I sell my iPad?” DO NOT – use stock photos. This follows on from the previous point, if I were to sell my iPad; I would always use photos of the device I’d taken myself. This way, the person buying your product is much more likely to trust your description. DO NOT – leave personal details on it. Once you have finally sold your iPad, you should have a reminder list saying “things to check before I sell my iPad and send it away.” You should erase all your details off your device first and foremost. It is also recommended to do a reset of the device to its original factory settings and then all the apps and things such as private data will be erased for sure. DO NOT – leave your music or videos on it. Much like the previous point, you do not want to leave old pictures, music or movies on the device for security reasons. Read up on the Apple site how to do this for your particular iPad. DO NOT – Send it off without insurance. Whatever you do, don’t send it off without getting appropriate insurance from the Post Office. The last thing you want to happen is a situation where you think “it was easy to sell my iPad, but now the person is claiming not to have received it!?” Either send it by courier or get an appropriate level of insurance from the Post Office. Usually you will need to pay more for a guaranteed next day delivery service which will also cover a product up to a certain value – just make sure it is enough to have your iPad covered in the worst case scenario. DO NOT – post it without wrapping it securely. Another blunder some people make when sending gadgets and devices is to simply but it in a cardboard box without any further protection. You should think to yourself “I want to sell my iPad – but if I was the one buying it, I wouldn’t want it to arrive in pieces now would I?” Wrap it in bubble wrap, stick some newspaper in the box, and just generally keep it secure. Equally you do not want it to be in a box four times its size as it will rattle around and risk getting broken also. There you have it, these are just a few of the things I would do if I decided to sell my iPad, so for those thinking –“time to sell my iPad,” this should make a handy go to guide. Selling technology and gadgets online is easy enough, but there are a number of pitfalls that need to be avoided. This article gives a rundown of things not to do for those thinking “time to sell my iPad".
