Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal has said that Russiashould re-evaluate its policies with Syrian regime or it"will lose a lot among the Arabs," AFP news reported onTuesday. Al-Faisal told reporters in Jeddah following a meeting of the GulfCooperation Council that Gulf states have begun to lose hope thatinternational envoy Kofi Annan's peace plan can end more than ayear of violence in Syria. The Saudi FM also described Russia"s veto at U.N. SecurityCouncil, against resolutions condemning President Basharal-Assad"s regime, as "unjustifiable." Al-Faisal urged Gulf states to help Syrian civilians by all meansto enable them to defend themselves against the murderous anddestructive machine of Assad regime forces. At the same time, China's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that,both Beijing and Moscow, the closest allies of Damascus, areagainst any military action towards Syria and the overthrow ofPresident Bashar al-Assad. "On the Syrian issue, China and Russia have remained in closetouch and coordination in New York, Moscow and Beijing," saidthe spokesman of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs LiuWeimin. But in Moscow, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilovtold the Itar-Tass news agency that Moscow had not consideredPresident Bashar al-Assad's stay in power as a prerequisite forresolving the conflict in Syria. "We never said or made acondition that Assad must necessarily remain in power at the end ofthe political process." Meanwhile, John Ging, Director of Operations of the U.N. Office forthe Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, announced on Tuesday thatSyria has allowed nine U.N. humanitarian agencies and sevennongovernmental relief organizations into the country. The delivery was reported in four provinces. After initial missionson Sunday, humanitarian organizations allowed to move into Homs(center), Idleb (northwest), Deraa (south) and Deir Ezzor (east),to distribute food and medical aid. Syrian Deputy Foreign MinisterFaisal Meqdad reaffirmed the willingness of Damascus to implementAnnan's plan and "protect the observer mission". Also on Tuesday, violence killed 55 people across Syria: 26soldiers, 19 civilians and 10 rebels. On its part, Interfax news reported that al-Nusra Front group hastaken responsibility for the killings of 13 officers of the Syrian security services in the Deir al Zor Province. According to group's statement posted on the Internet, "afterthey were questioned their heads were cut off ."
