If we can extend the length of our hair artificially then we can certainly extend the ends of our eyelashes. Eyelash extensions or false eyelashes are those small marvels that instantly brighten the eyes and give you a whole new look. If chosen well, they can last long and cause no side effects. Extensions are largely of two types, temporary and semi-permanent. The first are worn for short periods and cannot be worn when showering or sleeping. As expected, silk is a combination of the two in terms of look and feel which explains why many choose it over the rest. What works for you may not for another so individual differences should be taken into account when choosing eyelash extensions. A common rule when choosing extensions is to compare it with the density of your natural lashes. If you have thick lashes, synthetic can sit well although silk and mink will also serve. The stiffer nature of synthetic will be masked by your lashes so the fact that you’re wearing extensions won’t be too noticeable. People with lighter and thinner natural lashes should opt for silk and mink because synthetic will only stand out and usually not for the better. Contrary to popular belief, natural lashes do grow back but not for six to eight weeks. The interim period can be frustrating and embarrassing so to avoid this, follow the do’s and don’ts given here. • Maintain the health of your own lashes because they’re what hold extensions in place. Eyelash conditioners can be used if you’re a frequent user of extensions. • Spend more if you must but choose extensions only from reputable makers. Your peepers can suffer if you’re not careful. • Resist plucking or pulling extensions because the strands may come off the adhesive and yank a few of your own lashes.
