The Sunday School Lesson is shared from Exodus 3:7-17 (Devotional Reading: Exodus 4:10-16; Background Scripture: Exodus 1-4) for November 3, 2013.

Moses ... (saved from water), an Egyptian name. His birth & preservation (Exodus 2). Escapes to Midian (Exodus 2:15). Called by the Lord (Exodus 3). Signs shown to (Exodus 4). Returns to Egypt (Exodus 4:20).

Exodus 1-18 ... Oppression of the Israelites in Egypt, history of Moses & dealings with Pharaoh, the plagues, the exodus, the overthrow of the Egyptians, & the arrival at Sinai.

Midian ... Land of (Exodus 2:15).

Midianites ... Descendants of Midian, son of Abraham by Keturah (Genesis/Bereshith 25:1-2,4; I Chronicles 1:32-33). Kenites were a branch of the Midianites & dwelt among the Amalekites.

Raamsers, Rameses ... city of the Egyptian kings of the same name.

Pharaoh ... Official title of the kings of Egypt. Oppresses the Israelites.

Egypt (Mizraim), a country in the northeast part of Africa.

Zipporah ... Wife of Moses. May have been a Cushite (Numbers 12:1).

Aaron ... Brother of Moses, the first high priest. Appointed to Moses.

Horeb ... (Sinai) (desert), "Mountain of God."

Canaanites ... Inhabitants opf Canaan.

Hittites ... A People descended from Heth, & early dwellers in eastern Asia Minor (Turkey), Syria, & parts of Palestine (Then)/Holy Land(Now).

Amorites ... Dispossessed for their iniquities (sins/wrongs/disobedience). Dwelt in the southwest of Palestine (Then)/Holy Land(Now).

Perizzites ... A tribe of the ancient Canaanites.

Hivites ... Dwelt first in mid-Canaan, in Schechem, in Gibeon, & later in the norther parts of Lebanon & even as far as Hamath.

Jebusites ... Though a small tribe, was one of importance, for they occupied the mountains of Jerusalem & the neighborhood.

Verses 7,9 ... The Hebrews; Israel In Egypt; God Remembers HIS Covenant(agreement/promise).

Verse 8 ... The Hebrews; Israel In Egypt; Deliverance Promised.

Verse 10 ... The Hebrews; Israel In Egypt; Moses Commissioned (to appoint or assign to a task or function).

Verses 11-13

Verses 11,12 ... The Hebrews; Israel In Egypt; Moses Object.

Verse 12 ... The Lord's Love for HIS Children.
