Are you unable to decide which letters should be kept capital and which one should be kept small in your sentences? If yes, you are at the right place because here we would give you several rules that will help you use the capital letters correctly in your sentences. The rules given by The Academic Advantage, a known coaching institute, are as following: Rule 1- All sentences begin with capital letters. 1- You are late. 2- No, I’m not late. 3- We are going to Shimla in the summer of 2014. Rule- ‘I’ is always kept capital, irrespective of the fact where it comes. 1- Jenny and I went to the mall. 2- I love romantic movies. Rule- You should always keep names of people and places capital. 1- Peter loves eating chocolates. 2- India is one of the fastest emerging economies. 3- Delhi is the capital of India. Rule: The names of planets and stars should also be kept capital. 1- Have you ever seen the Pole Star? 2- My friend, Jennie, says she wants to go to Jupiter. Rule: Titles preceding names are kept capital. However, you should not capitalize the titles when they follow the names. 1- Doctor Michael will answer your questions. 2- Managing Director Philip did not listen to me. 3- Michael, doctor, will answer to your questions shortly. 4- Julie, assistant manager, did not reply my question. Rule: 1- You should keep the title of books, magazines, films, song… capital. 2- I have read War and Peace three times. 3- The New Statesman is an engaging magazine. Have you watched the movie Bride and Prejudice? Rule- You should not capitalize articles in a sentence until they begin the sentence. 1- I am looking for the book which you were reading yesterday. 2- He is a doctor. 3- The man about whom I was informing you yesterday is coming to visit us today. Rule: Prepositions are not always capitalized. 1- She is looking for a pen and I will buy that from your shop. 2- On Saturday, we will leave for Delhi. Rule: Name of countries, states, and districts should be capitalized. 1- I live in Canada. 2- Do you live in California? 3- He has decided to hold his marriage party in Florida.
