A skin growth that is caused by different a type of virus that is known as the human papillomavirus (HPV), there are over 100 different types of warts. The virus which causes the top layer of the skin to grow rapidly which leads to the formation of a wart. Most warts are known to go away (on their own) within a few months or even a year. They are known to grow anywhere on the body and are most common amongst children as well as young adults. There are mainly five different kinds of warts that form on the body: common warts, plantar warts, flat warts, filiform warts and periungal warts. They may occur in different shapes and sizes, forming bumps with a rough surface; or they may even be flat and smooth. While for most cases, treatment is not required there are a number of effective remedies that can be employed in case the warts are painful and spread; or a person is extremely bothered about the way that they look. However, one of the most complicating factors is that the wart may even regrow after it has been removed. Some of the different medications that can be used as a remedy include imiquimod, which is a topical cream that helps the body’s immune system fight the wart virus by encouraging interferon production. There are many different procedures that can be used such as keratolysis of dead skin cells using salicylic acid, immune system modifiers and blistering agents. However, wart treatment does not always work and they may re-appear. This is because most of the treatments destroy the wart but do not kill the virus that causes the wart. Homeopathy treatment for warts is known to be extremely effective, treating the underlying weakness and cause that leads to the formation of warts.
